• iPhone 4.2.9 firmware downgrade?

So if I've got an iPhone 4 that's running 4.2.9 and I want to jailbreak it, can I just throw the 4.2.8 firmware on there and expect it to work just fine? Will iTunes not recognize the device or not let me re-sync all my music and whatnot?
If you haven't jailbroken your device before or haven't saved your SHSH blobs, then I don't think you can downgrade. If you have saved your blobs, you can use The Firmware Umbrella to downgrade. If you don't have your blobs, you can jailbreak iOS 4.2.9 using the latest version of redsn0w (Redsn0w 0.9.8b5), however I believe that this is a tethered jailbreak.
How does one check if they have the SHSH blobs saved?
