Nouri al-Maliki was speaking Wednesday to a group of sheiks in Babylon province. He asked for their cooperation to help Iraq's security forces capture insurgents active in the area.
Al-Maliki said recent intelligence showed that al-Qaeda planned to use the area "as a den to feed terrorism" and re-ignite sectarian violence. He did not elaborate.
The area is mostly populated by Sunnis but Shiites live there too.
The region was one of the most violent places in Iraq at the height of the war.

There's a small bunch whom were trained by the Americans and are actually loyal. Lets just hope they can try to get the twatfuck groups out.
I always thought a good anti-Al Qaeda method would be a bounty system "show proof Mohammad the 16th is dead and get livestock/cash/land!"
As of June 2010, 80% of the group's 42 leaders, including recruiters and fincanciers, have been killed or captured with only eight remaining at large, according to Odierno. He said they are cut off from their leaders in Pakistan, and improved intelligence allowed for the successful mission in April that led to the killing of the two AQI top commanders; in addition, the number of attacks and casualty figures in the first five months of 2010 have been the lowest yet since 2003
The US has armed the local militia groups in order to have them fight Al-Qaeda in Iraq, in addition the Iraqi military and police.
Hopefully that doesn't bite them in the end.
