Okay, here are my current computer specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 2.0GHz CPU ATI Radeon HD 2400 GPU 2GB DDR2 667MHz RAM P5LP-LE (Leonite2) Motherboard Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit The other day I bought 2 512MB RAM sticks. They are also DDR2 667MHz. I installed them with my current memory but CPUID was telling me that I still only have 2GB of RAM. So I took out the old sticks and put the new sticks in alone, and CPUID (correctly) told me that I have 1GB RAM. For some reason though, it's not recognizing the new RAM when I put it in with the old one - I've tried switching slots and everything. What could the problem be?
First off, you have a 32-bit operating system. Which means that it can only read/utilize 3.25GBs, regardless if you have 4GBs in there or not.
Are you sure the new ram is the same frequency as your old ram?
Are you sure the new ram is the same frequency as your old ram?
That wouldn't cause it. Go into your bios and look around, there is a bios setting in Asus motherboards called memory mapping, that disabled dosent allow more than 2gbs to be used.
Yeah, I know 32 bits don't like more than 3GB, that's why I bought an extra 1GB instead of 2. I'll try that BIOS thing out, thanks :)
