Israel's military police on Monday opened an inquiry into the theft of airplane parts, a spokeswoman said without confirming press reports that eight fighter-jet engines had been stolen. "The military police have opened an inquiry into the matter," she told AFP without giving further detail or confirming reports of the theft from Tel Nof airbase near Tel Aviv. Air force officials quoted in the Maariv newspaper said the stolen parts were eight engines from F-15 and F-16 fighter jets which were taken from Tel Nof air base. They said it was not immediately clear when the theft took place, but said the parts were no longer in use and had most likely been stolen for their value as scrap metal, the paper said. Investigators quoted by the paper said each engine weighed "several tonnes" and could only have been taken away on large trucks, prompting speculation that the thieves had help from inside the base. Military officials quoted by Israel HaYom newspaper described the theft as "very serious." I bet someone just turned them on without hooking them to a plane and they went flying off.
I was wondering how last year soldiers stole ammunition and a rocket launcher from a base but jet engines? Wow just how terrible the guards there are.
Chinese stealth jets took them... :ninja:
It's either metal theft or someone wants to make some badass pod racers.
Please explain to me how you can successfully steal eight fighter engines without it being noticed. Seriously.
"what do you have in the trunk?" "uhhhh menorahs, yarmulkes and wine." "oh go right ahead"
Please explain to me how you can successfully steal eight fighter engines without it being noticed.
If you have a Sneak above 50, jet engines are added to the list of holdout weapons.
Please explain to me how you can successfully steal eight fighter engines without it being noticed. Seriously.
Only explanation I'd get is if the guards were cooperating with this.
This is kind like when the tanks was stolen from that one military base in i believe germany, the best part being the tank was still functional.

Imagine having a race on two military jets. That would be epic.
"what do you have in the trunk?" "uhhhh menorahs, yarmulkes and wine." "oh go right ahead"
This is how it goes sometimes actually. You see, the army employs a lot of civilian contractors and they often do work around the base. So they see some jet engines lying on the ground (they were meant to be sold for their metal, not operational) and just take them. Nobody checks the trucks because no soldier gives enough of a damn to do so. Security in some of the Israeli bases is seriously shit.

"They're big jet powered dreidls for the parade." "Okay, you can pass"
Iran just looking for replacement parts for their F-14's, that's all this is. Don't tell them you can't use these engines in them though
As an F-15 maintainer and having helped push a few engines it's not that hard.. 2 people and a decent wagon could easily move one. Having a shitty f-150 could tow it no problem. They were just dumb and let their guard down.

Maybe they were painted with a new type of camouflage and they really are there, but they just can't see them.
This is probably not a laughing matter because these jet engines could go to drug dealers (narco jets transporting the merchandise next?), arms dealers or maybe terrorist groups.
This is probably not a laughing matter because these jet engines could go to drug dealers (narco jets transporting the merchandise next?), arms dealers or maybe terrorist groups.
They'd need to build the rest of the jet though,
They'd need to build the rest of the jet though,
Well Mohamassad, do you have the pieces for our super weapon to take down the Zionist dogs? Well I got the engines...Dunno what to do next Hmm AND THE PLOT THICKENS
"Well shit, Asad! What are we going to do now?"
Lets tell everyone it was stolen
Lets tell everyone it was stolen
MEANWHILE, IN THE ISRAELI MINISTRY OF DEFENSE: "They wren't "stolen". We simply lost track of them, that's all"
Only explanation I'd get is if the guards were cooperating with this.
Every guard can cooperate with money, its only the matter of how much.
Every guard can cooperate with money, its only the matter of how much.
Not everyone.
