A man has been spotted doing his ironing on the closed side of the motorway.
Drivers were left stunned as they saw him walk onto the road, put up his board, and get going.
He didn't have to dodge cars as the southbound stretch has been deserted for days.
Part of the M1 between junctions 1 and 4 has been closed off since Friday after a fire broke out at a scrapyard in the Mill Hill area of north London.
According to the official website, extreme ironing is "the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well-pressed shirt."

I will admit these people are awesome, because I have enough difficulty ironing much, and that's in a stationary room.
Holy shit, it really is a sport! I thought those pictures of people ironing their stuff hanging from cliffs were just someone fooling around or something.
Think I'm gonna take a drive to that stretch of the M1 later, it's only down the road. Got some washing up to do.
Next Step.......Ironing......While Skydiving!
When I sign up for firefighting class and get my turnout gear, I'm going to go to a controlled burn and do extreme ironing in a burning house.

You will be an absolute fucking winner, and when you see how awesome you are, any self-doubt low-esteem depression will evaporate, because if you do that, you are a

These are certainly some pressing issues.
