Police say 24-year-old Jonathan Stevens was arrested in Tampa over the weekend after flagging down a police officer. He had flashing red and blue lights on his SUV, and had a gun and a badge around his neck. "The officer was suspicious. It just didn't seem right to her," said TPD spokesperson Andrea Davis. Stevens' car was not from a government agency, and he was not a government employee. Police say he admitted to making the whole thing up, and it's not the first time.
It's still scary that people do this kind of shit...
Must be a hell of a feeling to catch someone out on their shit like that, especially in that kinda situation. :v:
Sounds like he's doing better than most real cops nowadays.
Creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
Probably gives you the same thrill as SAMP roleplay servers as a cop. Good times.
Sounds like he's doing better than most real cops nowadays.
Literally nothing in the article to base that judgement on Literally nothing
Why does this happen as often as it does? I thought this would be a more rare thing, but i keep seeing news stories like this.
Literally nothing in the article to base that judgement on Literally nothing
The news lately has been nothing but cops making awful mistakes, making photographers criminals, and just victims in general the bad guy. I flagged down an officer the other night because a fight broke out behind my store and they were screaming about guns. The cop spent almost 10 minutes running my ID and asking me questions with his lights on which just scared everyone off. He then tried to search me because I own a smokeshop. You're right, im just not happy with the police lately. My apologies. Edit: His honesty about his actions is in the article and something you never hear of police doing. There's zero accountability.
Why does this happen as often as it does? Not only do you risk pulling over an officer, but you could also pull over the wrong person. Someone who is already in some deep shit with the law, a person who has a grudge against police, etc. It's just too dangerous for literally no gain whatsoever.

And this is why the majority of the people keep asking officers for their badge ID during a confrontation to make sure it's a real cop and not a prankster. Too bad not all officers understand this and think civilians are just being a nuisance rather than confirming legitimacy.
Honesty? Dude faked being a cop twice and only told when he was caught. Literally, what was he gonna do when the cop found out he was a fake? Btw, who's going to post videos or stories about cops being honest? That stuff doesn't make headlines
The same reason you don't hear news about non-corrupt politicians or honest corporate officials: because it's not news.

You wanna be sure if a cop pulling you over is real? Call 911. Not kidding. Call 911, tell them you're being pulled over in wherever you are, you're not trying to run, but you're just checking if that is actually an officer behind you. They'll check logs and tell you if its legit. While on the phone, slow down, put your hazards on, and either don't stop until you get confirmation or look for the nearest super well-lit public parking lot with lots of people and pull over there.
There is always one of you, ALWAYS.
My father is a police chief about to retire because of this stuff. Police are nothing like they were 40 years ago, and the spike of dickheads really picked up in the last 5. Im not taking the fake cops side I was just throwing a sarcastic comment out because its something that means a lot to me. I live in the mountains and dont know anybody who calls the police anymore, which is a big shame. The article really could've said anything mentioning cops and I would've said something similar. I had no intentions of offending anyone and apologize that I did. Edit: Im not. vv
I don't even see how you could take the fake cops side.

Didn't Mitt Romney used to do this to people while he was in college? :v:
I don't understand people. There is no state that requires you to pullover for an un-marked vehicle. Some states require you to, but only if the officer is in full uniform. If you are not sure, call 911 and tell them in detail what is going on. The conversation is recorded, and in most instances the 911 dispatcher can either verify the identity, or request a marked unit be sent out.
oh yeah well my father is your father's boss and he says your father is a dumb face
jokes on you my father is in hyperspace he doesn't have a boss!
It's still scary that people do this kind of shit...
Father was a cop, one time while responding to an accident some officer in a car from some division he's never heard of followed him the entire way to the accident, lights and sirens on. When they arrived he got out of the car. Father was too busy helping the scene to give it much thought until afterwards. That guy took off a couple minutes after arriving He says people impersonate cops a lot, and every one of them are mentally insane
jokes on you my father is in hyperspace he doesn't have a boss!
Jokes on you my father IS hyperspace!
Wasn't there a murderer a few years ago that went around impersonating cops, pulling people over, and killing them? If i was her and felt suspicious about the cop pulling me over i'd be pretty on edge.
...Stevens' cat was not from a government agency...
Once again I've been temporarily baffled by the XKCD substitutions chrome addon haha
Sometimes I feel sorry for the luck people have. Example:
Jokes on you my father IS hyperspace!
But if my father is in hyperspace, and yourfather is hyperspace... b- brother?
This shit always happens in Florida and I dont know why. You never hear of people impersonating cops in Missouri or Rhode Island. Either they're smart about being a fake cop or it doesnt happene
