I will preference this by saying that this will have actual planning going into it if people are interested in it. Instead of just trying to put up a radio station and website as fast as possible without fixing bugs, planning will go into this. On that note, collecting more data on Facepunch Radio. Last time I made the survey 1~ year ago, I did it badly. Please fill out this survey and look at the questions carefully: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1-F-PY6JzXX70R2EAC5Sf6gULECCDmNBf_jiRqejE8cY/viewform A few notes (These are written as if it is 100% happening): Negativity leads to no progress. IF YOU WANTED TO PUT INDIE OR ALTERNATE ROCK IN THE GENRE SECTION, POST THAT ITS SOMETHING YOU LIKE HERE. DUBSTEP COUNTS AS ELECTRONIC. Paying out of pocket leads to depression and/or being forever frantic to get donations/listeners to justify their purchase if it doesn't go 100% well. Crowdfunding assures some sort of listener base along with being able to pay server/hosting bills for a few months at least. Would like some opinions on this method of getting funding and listeners, of course. 15-30 second ads near the end of an hour would also get some sort of income to pay for bills. Hosting. The large question is "Setup a server and get a control panel setup for the DJs and Auto DJ (see further down) and possibly have to pay a licensing thingy to play the songs" or "Let a hoster do everything, even if it may be more cost effective the other way. Everything is already nicely setup." If anyone knows a good Shoutcast control panel with Auto DJ that can be setup to randomly play a specific playlist every hour or time range and play ads/station IDs/ whatever, let me know! Auto DJ is very important. I don't know of any radio station, internet or not, that has a dedicated host every single hour of every single day. Newer control panels allow you to do some nifty stuff with playlists. Set up what playlist goes on per hour, when ads are played, when station jingles are played, and so on. Auto DJ will, of course, be on the station. Other than certain hours dedicated to specific genres, still need to decide what to do with the remaining hours. Do a different genre every hour, or setup a playlist of music people like? Actual hosts are more important. Hosts will be decided later, but trying to get good hosts that can come on at least once a week will be important. Auto DJ is fine and all, but humans > robots. Interviews, talk shows, and stuff like that also could theoretically be done if there are enough interesting people to interview and stuff to talk about. This shouldn't be a super big production in the slightest. A simple website and reasonable hosting (128/192kbps should be fine. Shoutpunch was 192kbps anyway.) So again, please fill out this survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1-F-PY6JzXX70R2EAC5Sf6gULECCDmNBf_jiRqejE8cY/viewform Feel free to ask anything. If anyone was involved with Shoutpunch/knew a good amount of what Shoutpunch's schedule, music selection, or general way or being run was, let me know.
I like the idea! Pardon my ignorance, but by chance would there be any way people could help and/or call in? I would volunteer as a co host or commentator if I had some free time.

[editline]13th September 2013[/editline] If anyone knows how Shoutpunch was structured hourly, let me know.
Would six music preferences be considered more than most? I really have a tough time on that.
Would six music preferences be considered more than most? I really have a tough time on that.
Whatever works, mate. Just going to pay more attention to the ones with more votes.
Done!
Where's Alt. Rock and Indie? Seems like really big genres to leave out.
Based on the results of the survey it looks like electronic music is going to be a feature - you could probably poll the DJ booth (http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1176679) to get some volunteer DJs for a couple timeslots. (I personally volunteer if you're interested :v:)
Aaahhh. I remember the days when I ran FaceCast for Jamie. All I played was Pink Floyd, MGS music, and Florence + the Machine. I've been meaning to ask him about a revived Facecast, since I have a broader taste of music and stuff, now, but it won't materialize because I'm lazy. I say go for it, man. It's good fun.

So, about money. Assuming we do crowd-funding and get enough to host the station and get a domain for a few months, there should probably be another source of income for when it runs out. Proposition is to sell out advertising space. A 15/30 second ad halfway through the hour and at the end of the hour before the genre change. Depending on what people's ideas are on this, it would lessen/eliminate the costs of running the station and (probably) make it run longer. Something like $5/$10 a week for ads to be played no matter the hour would work. Again, it is only 2 ads per hour which is going to be less than any actual radio station. Opinions? Nothing is dead set yet, of course. If nobody likes it then it won't be put in. Just another way to keep it running.

See if there is any hosts willing to sponsor you a free VPS/Dedi/Shoutcast server. Im sure DarkSoul would be willing to help out with this. I might be willing to do this however you should ask DarkSoul first as if he accepts he might be able to provide something better. The domain side of things wont be a problem however I strongly suggest buying it yourself; buy one from gandi.net (£10/$15 for a .com for 1 year) as they are decent people and are cheap.

I think the station should do 80's alternative hits, if not just 80's music in general.
did the survey we need some 90's, 00's, et cetera music
Survey has hit 100 responses, thanks guys! Still figuring out various things, including the name. If anyone has a decent idea for a name, let me know. It can't be Shoutpunch as the Facebook and Twitter are occupied, and Facecast was already used.
radio facepunch
This may work well, actually.
Castpunch
This sounds like I am beating up disabled people.
Punch Radio? or RadioPunch
This sounds like I am beating up disabled people.
Sounds perfect.
If we end up playing punk, we should name it Facepunk (or have a block named Facepunk).
Definitely have to have some 80's mixtapes going
done
RadioPunch? I even made a shitty little logo for it Link because how do I thumb oh, also done of course
Facepunch LIVE got good views, but we've only done specific shows. (Exactly two, a few years apart lol). Having a good show that goes live once in a while wouldn't be a bad idea. [editline]15th September 2013[/editline] Do not ban Thrift Shop.

Filled it out
