The survey said that 52% of voters trust the media, with only 37% saying they trusted Trump more.Among Democrat voters, 86% said they were more inclined to believe the media than the president, while 78% of Republican voters said that Trump tells them the truth, not the media, according to the poll.
Food for thoughts...
To be fair I'd trust an actual chimpanzee over Trump, so.
Were a divided country on pretty much every issue.
Well I mean yeah. When the president is going around telling nothing but lies and calling everything fake news. You are going to stop trusting the guy.
The partisanship of that issue is a bit shocking, but to be expected with a leader this unreliable I suppose.
I dunno, I would trust Trump a bit more than trusting Breitbart
I dunno, I would trust Trump a bit more than trusting Breitbart
I wouldn't really call them the Media. Just like I don't consider tabloids the media.
Nah, Still most of the "media" will make some fake stories for clicks
a majority trusts the media over trump? I find that hard to believe. I suspect this poll is just as cherry picked as the ones showing Trump was going to lose the election before he won it.
Nah, Still most of the "media" will make some fake stories for clicks
Using the alternative definition of most, sure
Nah, Still most of the "media" will make some fake stories for clicks
Exaggerate or cherry pick? Yes. Making things up entirely? Only places like brietbart
Exaggerate or cherry pick? Yes. Making things up entirely? Only places like brietbart
I think ether American 'Mainstream' media in recent years becoming more like de facto Bias news for political establishment with big corporations into mix and Right wing "alternate" media like Breitbart.
78% of Republican voters said that Trump tells them the truth, not the media, according to the poll.
You know, we're supposed to treat political opponents like they're intelligent human beings with differences in opinion, right? How can we, when stuff like this comes to light? So are we to understand 78% of Republicans are actually irredeemably stupid? I'm really hoping this is wrong or skewed somehow - I give Republicans more credit than that.
Mmm, how about neither

Truth be told though, it's possible to be also smart in some ways but pretty stupid in others. Just look at Ben Carson who thinks the pyramids are grain silos.

And cherry picked? Lmfao. Those polls weren't cherry picked, it's widely understood that pollsters erred in their weighting of turnout across a variety of demographics causing inflated numbers for Hillary. Not conspiracy, not cherry picking, just a surprise. also a surprise, I would note, that would not affect whatsoever this poll
Lol don't trust either
Lol don't trust either
At least you don't see many people wearing NBC hats.
You know, we're supposed to treat political opponents like they're intelligent human beings with differences in opinion, right? How can we, when stuff like this comes to light?
This is the thing that has frustrated me about American politics for longer than anything else. In a less crazy world the people in our Democratic party would actually be a few different parties that took up most of the seats and the Republicans would have way smaller representation. But they have tons of support so it's like there's this douchey kid that you had to invite to the party even though you know they're just going to piss everyone off. If you go along with the Republican's idea of compromise and being bipartisan, you'll find yourself signing the country's death warrant. And the other thing that drives me up the wall is when people are smart enough to not think Hillary is literally satan but for some reason are still like "WELL GEE I DON'T KNOW I GUESS THEY BOTH HAVE PROS AND CONS."
At least you don't see many people wearing NBC hats.
You are right, instead we see bunch of sheeps believing everything they read. Tbh I would go with not trusting any of them.
It's difficult to trust either, but frankly Trump hardly sets a standard for trust anyway.
It's difficult to trust either, but frankly Trump hardly sets a standard for trust anyway.
As long as you have some basic critical thinking skills and know what source criticism is you can see past the bullshit that media brings sometimes and Trump brings all the time.
a majority trusts the media over trump? I find that hard to believe. I suspect this poll is just as cherry picked as the ones showing Trump was going to lose the election before he won it.
good joke
It's difficult to trust either, but frankly Trump hardly sets a standard for trust anyway.
frankly i don't find them comparable at all and it's a little upsetting I'm seeing so many people in this thread with the same mindset. Every media function absolutely has an agenda to push to their viewers because they're tailoring to their audience. Every single one of them does from CNN to Fox News. However, the media still has to cite sources and play by the rules of journalistic integrity. You aren't going to see a story on any of these networks based on "well everybody knows that" or "I just know it". The media has to play by the rules to push their agenda and by cross referencing you can find what the truth is. Donald Trump literally makes shit up. He has no sources, no research, and no credibility. When he does cite sources it's from "alternative news" AKA trash This comparison links up there with people during the election saying "I don't want Trump but Hillary is just as bad" and as we've come to experience so far that is objectively false

You're either with him, or you're with the media. I don't think its an unfair comparison to try and weigh them against each other. You stated yourself that both have an agenda, which is inherently something you don't want in news media as a whole. Impartial reporting should be the goal but it's almost impossible to find a media organization that sticks to that. It's true Trump's ground is infinitely more shaky than a news media's, that doesn't excuse the fact that they've gotten away with peddling stupid bullshit for decades, and it's definitely gotten worse over time. I just looked at the CNN home page and they've got 12 articles listed for "Top Stories" here they are in a list. Trump related. Trump related. Sports. Trump related. "Is this billboard sexist?" Trump related. Trump related. Trump related. Trump related. Fox News reporter death. Racism related. Pope Quote. You should be extremely skeptical of both and the agendas that they peddle.
He just hasn't said FAKE NEWS enough, give it 5 or 6 hundred more times or just a week's worth.

You've got a wide range of media sources that have conflicting agendas, and by comparing and contrasting them you can get a clearer picture of the truth. You also act like there aren't more impartial news sources. Things like PBS, BBC, Reuters, etc. Not everything is CNN or Fox. [editline]23rd February 2017[/editline] Also, keep in mind that even referring to "The Media" as a whole entity is a gross generalization, and if there's one thing I've learned over the election and presidency, is that the first step to forming bad opinions is to generalize groups as wholes. Not all liberals are SJW's, not all conservatives are racists, and the entirety of the news media isn't something you can simply label as "untrustworthy"
