5 Years ago I was put in a mental institution for private reasons. You can ask me questions about the place, just don't ask about why I was in there or the problems I had.
Why where you there and what problems did you have? But in all seriousness was it fun?
Was it a good or bad experience? Was it a nice place? Were the nurses good? Were the people crazy? I've been to one before, it's bad, wanna know what yours was like.
Do you use the word "institution" because the treatment and facility was good? Would "hospital" be a better word, based on your experience? May seem like a weird question, but I'm at this moment writing an English paper dealing with the connotations of words, and I'm supposed to differentiate between 'institution,' 'hospital,' and 'asylum,' in the "mental ______" category. I may come back with a better question, after I finish this paper.
did you meet the joker
Do you believe in magic? In a young girl's heart?
Why where you there and what problems did you have? But in all seriousness was it fun?
It was okay, the "school work" there was incredibly easy. Basically the schedule was: 8:00AM to 8:30AM - Breakfast and shower 8:30AM to 11:00AM - Mini-school (Math/English work) 11:00AM to 11:30AM - Lunch 11:30AM to 6:00PM - Freetime 6:00PM to 6:30PM - Dinner and shower 6:30PM to 9:00PM - Freetime 9:00PM - Bedtime
Was it a good or bad experience? It god kind of boring at times but other times were fun. The place looked like an average white hospital. The sector I had to stay in was about the size of an average bungalow. The nurses didn't really interfere much, it was the doctors who did most of the stuff. Some were nice, others were strict. The play was mixed with all sorts of people. People with depression, hyper-active people and such. There weren't any pinheads or psychopaths.
Oddest character you've met? If anyone can link me to that one SomethingAwful series where one of the posters talked about his adventures in institutionalization, I'd be overjoyed.

[editline]2nd November 2012[/editline]
did you meet the joker
No, but one kid did act pretty hysterical all the time. This one kid who kept annoying me during bed and was always mumbling strange things.
Were you under he care of Psychiatrists? Was anything banned inside? Craziest incident?
Do the faeries still visit you?
Do you get to go outside during the day/what is your outside play area like? Do you get to play sports with other people there?
Were you under he care of Psychiatrists? Was anything banned inside? Craziest incident?
Yes I had a psychiatrist talk to me a few times. High fat and sugared foods were banned, along with TV shows rated PG and above. Things were stable most of the time, I can't think of the "craziest incident". Did you make any good friends? Like, a person/people who you talked with or hung out with? (And you didn't answer my do you believe in magic question :v: )
How good was the food, was it any better than public school grade slop?
The food was okay. The awesome thing about it was that you can choose what you want for breakfast/lunch from a menu. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline]
Did you make any good friends? Were you ever scared for you're life at a time? Like did somebody have a freak out that may have gotten that out of hand?
What activities where permitted during Free Time?
Did you try to reenact One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest?
did you have internet access
Did your time there give you any insight on mental sickness and people with it?
Were you ever scared for you're life at a time? Like did somebody have a freak out that may have gotten that out of hand?
No, I always felt safe there. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline]
What activities where permitted during Free Time?
You could watch TV if it is a children's show, you can play old games on the PC (rollercoaster tycoon and the sims were the main games) but no internet. You couldn't play tag or anything that involves running around. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline]
did you have internet access
No, they tried to limit outside contact as much as they could. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline]
Did your time there give you any insight on mental sickness and people with it?
It didn't help anything, it was a waste of time and probably made things worse. But I did realize that I am not the only one with problems.
what was the security like, and what were they armed with?
How was your fapping life like in a mental institution?
what was the security like, and what were they armed with?
There was one security guard there the whole time, and I don't remember seeing him with a weapon. [editline]4th November 2012[/editline]
How was your fapping life like in a mental institution?
I did that once during bedtime and the lady at the front desk came into my room and told me to stop. Apparently they have cameras everywhere.
You're likely to get more attention/serious questions doing an AMA on Reddit, but while I'm here, what's the worst thing you saw there? Fights? Mental breakdowns? People trying to kill themselves? Anything? [editline]4th November 2012[/editline] I don't know how serious the institution was, though, so my question may not even be relevant.
my dad used to work in one in georgia (charter, now closed i believe), there were some pretty fucked up people there but this is probably not as severe as that
Yeah, I figured. I think he's a teen, so I'm assuming those are different than ones with adults and people with more serious disorders. This all remind me of that movie "It's kind of a funny story", that one didn't seem so extreme and was more laid back and lenient.

Did you ever keep yourself company by way of an imaginary friend?
