• So I'm planning on making a shuttle case build

So I ended up figuring out the parts, and we ended up thinking i'd get a i5 3750k, Radeon 7950 3gig vram GPU, 16 gigs of ram, 2 terabyte hdd, and a 256 ssd Is the 7950 a good tradeoff for the 2 560tis i have at the moment? case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163170&Tpk=silverstone%20sg07 Basically this'll be used for LAN parties and BYOB events just so I can run shit smoothly alongside having portability. I'm getting sick of carrying my current rig at the moment. Seem like a decent build in your guys's eyes? Suggestions? Comments?
Not a fan of the case. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811345016 seems like it would be better for cable management, which would help with cooling.
Actually was thinking of that case, looked pretty rad. Do you think with either of those cases, gpu + cpu water cooling would be viable? I could PROBABLY put the radiator in one of the spare drive bays
Probably wouldn't get desirable temps using a single rad on both the CPU and GPU. You can get quiet aircoolers for the CPU, GPU seems like it'd make more sense to watercool if you had to pick one. You might be able to fit a radiator in the front as well as on the top if you do some modding, watch this as I think he goes over that.
Well I'd only be using up say 3 drive bays with the DVD/HDD/SSD setup, think I could nustle in 2 seperate radiators?
Just seems silly to try and watercool it. It's portable, wouldn't that maybe cause problems? Plus air works just fine, are you worried about noise or something?
Not in that case. If you ditch the DVD drive, then you could get a 240 rad at the top. If you're just getting a closed loop cooler like the Corsair H series, then you'd only be able to cool the processor, but if you spend a lot on a custom loop then maybe you'd get decent temps on a graphics card as well. Seems like it'd be a hassle to watercool both the CPU and GPU the more I think about it. You're better off just getting a closed loop for the CPU and keeping the aircooling on the GPU if you absolutely want something with watercooling, because watercooling a graphics card would still take up a ton of room and wouldn't leave much room for a CPU cooler. [editline]24th November 2012[/editline] Watercooling isn't too bad with being moved around, especially since all of the weight of it is attached to the case, so it's pretty sturdy.
nvm, thought you were getting a 680 for some reason
The best you could do for this would be a Corsair H100 (regular or H100i doesn't matter, but the H100i has nice software with it) and go for a push/pull setup with some good fans.
