:banjo:As the title says, I'm looking to update my XFX 250 GTS for something with more punch. My card runs games pretty well, but when it comes to using maximum resolutions, it's just not cutting it.
I've been looking at this Radeon HD 5770, but I haven't heard that much about it, aside from the whole DX11 thing. Newegg has some pretty mixed reviews about this card, but I have a feeling a few of the reviewers had a defective card.
I'm fairly interested in checking out the ATI GPU's because I've been hearing so much about them, but if anyone has any other card suggestions, please share them with me. I'm looking at a budget of around $200; no more than that. Thanks.
well...if your looking for a nice cheap ATI card you cant go wrong with the 4870, it beats a 9800GX2.
but most games are optimized for nvidia and i dont see across the board DX11 for all games sooner than 2011.
for 200 get a 4890
Meets the budget and good performance for price.
4870s prices have risen :/
Also, are you interested in selling you 250?

Maybe, how much would buy it for?

I dunno... how much you want for it?
Get a 4890 - it's not that expensive for the amount of power that it equates to.
Also, is it 1 GB or 512?
gts250 is roughly about as good as a 4850. Replacing it with a 4890 or a 5770 won't bring any huge performance improvements, you'd maybe get 30% higher framerates. It is a noticeable difference in performance, but i don't think it's worth it, that's up to you to decide though. If i were you, i'd go at least for a 5850 or 5870.
Question, should I be getting 30 FPS in games like World at War with my Current GPU? I'm getting the feeling that my PSU isn't pulling it's weight around. I have a 575W LOGISYS PSU.

512, I bought it for $140, would sell for around $70 I guess.
Also, would updating to a 1GB cause any significant change, framerate wise?

Fuck no
Obvious lie.

:downs:
I wish I never bought my GTS250 and just waited a week to get paid so I could've gotten something better. :sigh:

It's a good card, most games play flawlessly, But others get an FPS below 30 at some points, like Fallout 3 and Borderlands.

RAM is more for higher resolutions
How much to ship?
