• The Geminids peak, ITS TONIGHT!

Well, you heard it forks, the night of 13th and 14th December will be the peak night for the Geminids meteor shower. If you do not know what it is, these meteors are caused by grains of debris from an asteroid, no bigger than a grain of sand, entering the Earth's atmosphere in high speeds, burning up into super hot temperatures therefore causing big streaks of light around it. But the Geminids meteor are unique, even though how small the object is, it could cause a fireball up to a feet diameter. The Geminids also are believed to be caused by Asteroids unlike other showers which is caused by debris clouds. The folks at the Northern Hemisphere will get the most because that's where Gemini will appear high in the sky, the Southern folks still can see the meteors but with a lower rate.
When should I watch the sky if I live in GMT +1 timezone?
It will start around 10pm and the peak is 1 am untill dawn. I believe timezones don't really affect. Here's an image from last years shower. halley's comet is better
so these happen every year?
look to the east, from europe, or america? the earth is round, you know.
look to the east, from europe, or america? the earth is round, you know.
In your case i think it's best if you just look up. There's a 6+ hour difference in night time from EU to US, the round world you speak of spins, and that doesn't change the fact that the meteors will be coming at the Earth from the east. I personally can't wait, all other meteor showers for me this year were ruined by shitty weather.
Fuck you clouds, fuck you. I've been waiting for this and NOW the clouds come.
What time would that be for PST
It's happening all night from what I've read. For us on the pacific coast most of the meteors are gonna fall most visibly around 1-3am but they'll be visible until dawn.
