Not really continuing anymore, is it?
Yes, I made one of these kind of threads. I just thought it would be interesting to stir up some more discussion, even if the search for it is long over.
For people who don't know what Mel's Hole is:
Mel Waters appeared on Coast to Coast AM twice in 1997, once in 2000, and twice in 2002. He claimed that he had a hole on his property on Menastash Ridge, Washington (near Ellensberg) . This hole was weird in many ways, these are only a few of them:
- Seemingly bottomless. (Mel had used a fishing apparatus and lowered 80,000 feet of line into it.)
- Brought a dead dog back to life, but it wasn't his dog.
- People had been dumping trash and stuff into this for as long as anybody could remember.
- Sound doesn't echo out of it.
A much better history of Mel's Hole can be found here.
==========================
Hole dimensions:
- 9 feet across
- Stone retaining wall, going 15 feet down
- Retaining wall rises 3 feet above ground
- Mel placed corrugated metal on top of hole, and locked it. (so people don't fall in)
==========================
The day after the broadcast, Mel returned to his property and found it cordoned off by "The Military". To listen to the whole "saga" at once, see this video.
Anyways, if anybody has a recording of the April 24, 2000 show of Coast To Coast AM, it would be greatly appreciated if you posted it.

This is not what I expected when I clicked on this.
0/10, no girls named Mel or Melanie, no "holes".
I was expecting a 1970's gay porn flick.
Was expecting an actual update. I always liked that story, and was hoping he added new stuff.
Claims about it were first made on the radio show Coast to Coast AM by a guest calling himself "Mel Waters." Later investigation revealed no such person was listed as residing in that area, and no credible evidence that the hole exists
I don't even care that it doesn't exist, it's a good story. I love coast to coast, everyone knows it's fake stories, but it's just a radio camp fire atmosphere.
I was a night-time cab driver when that aired.
Never thought of actually following up on it to see if there was anything to it.
Art Bell escorted me through many lonely nights and I was sad to hear he left the show.
Well, it's kind of creepy, and reminds me of that 'Devil's kettle' story, that hole in the middle of a river that seemingly leads to nowhere - the water appears to disappear.
But I don't think the existence of such an enormous hole is scientifically viable

Obviously, Mel is a wizard.

I also liked hearing about Mel's Hole because it reminded me of the Devil's Kettle, which is an actual, real place.
Now all that needs to happen is for Mel to come back and speak on coast to coast again after all these years.

Yeah, I made a thread about this 3 years ago, nice to see it's still getting some exposure.
I really recommend listening the Coast to Coast interviews, it's definitely one of the most fascinating stories I've heard, although it gets pretty absurd by the end.
Isn't coast to coast the thing with the mental people telling you why Star Trek is pushing a gay agenda?

It's more like a paranormal/conspiracy talk show. Most of the guests and their stories are generally believed to be fictional. If they really do have a nut on the show talking about stuff like that, they aren't taken seriously. It would kind of be in the same manner a Jerry Springer.
jerry springer
but
aliens
well ok then america
