• Drive formatted in 7 not working in XP

So I partitioned and formatted an external drive in Windows 7. I plug her in to my XP machine and it doesn't show in Explorer. In Disk Management it shows up - without the partitions. What's the issue here? Formatted NTFS.
Have you assigned a letter to the drive?
Right clicking the drive in Disk Management gives no options - all functions are greyed out.
AFAIK 7 uses a later version of NTFS than XP.
Bugger. But 7 recognises drives formatted under the old version? I mean, my old internals are still all working in 7 and they were formatted in XP. I guess I'm backing up this drive and reformatting. Or is there a way to update the filesystem without formatting?

I don't know of any way except formatting I'm afraid.
