And if you did, why? And which do you prefer? There's a possibility I'll be switching over on Christmas day.
I can't say I've switched per se, but I use my Macbook Pro as my primary internet browsing machine and my Windows machine for a select few sites and Steam games - so I still use both regularly.
The reason is because my work involves Apple products, so it helps me with my job - and has also helped me realise how nice they are to use as a whole when it comes to how dead simple it is to fix 95% of all issues that Macs have.
Windows rig for games and super high powered stuff.
MacBook for email, internet, work processing etc.
I switched because I went to University and needed to stop playing video games so much, that and a Mac is excellent for school.

Yup same here, Don't know why. Just feels good man
I started on Apple, then went to Windows, and then went to both.
Four Macs, and six Windows machines near me right now.
Macs for my video production, Windows for 3D, and then the unmentioned Linux for programming.
Just got fed up with my Windows taking too long to do simple tasks like force-quitting. I have absolutely no complaints with my Mac.
Although, I have to thank Windows for developing my patience to what it is today.

That's why you kill the process, not "end now."
I never liked Apple (blindly hated) until I made a hackintosh. Once I used osx for a bit, and got used to it, I found the window management, the space management, and finder in general to really help with my design workflow. Also the search function is amazing! Apple+space, it's quick and even performs things like calculations, and dictionary searches. It's so quick I use it to open applications instead of the dock.
I then bought a mac, the software I needed, and fully switched over.
I grew up with PC and liked. I switched to mac and liked it. I would recommend PC for gaming and mac for work and editing. You can still game on mac but you have a less variety of games from companies such as steam. But you can still get some cool games though.
PC= Gaming
Mac= work (life stuff)
Well, I kinda used Windows on my MacBook :v:
Then I broke it, and lost my disk, so I re-started using Mac OS.
I will have to go back to Windows once I get a gaming PC...
I switched to Mac and back to Windows once my mac was too slow.
I still use my Windows PC whenever I can.
I recently moved from a big fat-ass windows desktop to a small macbook pro and find it really awesome, its very useful just to do general stuff like things people have posted in this thread before however using parallels and boot camp i can still do all my programming work with no hassle ( i hate Xcode and learnt on visual studio )
I agree with most people in this thread in that I don't use this for gaming however i have played WoW a few times with no problem.
You know why Mac users are so skinny? Because they burn so many calories talking all day about Windows vs. Mac.
Why even come in to this thread to say that? there is actually a forgotten rule about the Apple forum and it is to not come here to start shit with Mac users, really you would be banned right now if the moderators ever looked at the Apple forum.

There is also the forgotten rule of backseat moderating, but I agree with you.

Well you are a minority.

That doesn't make it acceptable.
My 2011 15" i7 MacBook pro is pretty much my all-purpose machine, I take it home at weekends and can still play 90% of the games I can on my desktop PC, including bf3 and sr3 (when in boot camp, of course). I use OSX for uni work, quick browsing and IM clients, etc while the windows side is dedicated 100% to games.
Never really switched but the Macbook Pro is actually well priced for what inner and outer hardware you get after educational discounts, sales etc. So I picked one up because it's fairly durable, is fast, has a nice screen and it does what I need.
Windows desktop, Apple laptop, and a Linux server.
The full triad. Each suited exactly to its purpose.

Definitely prefer Mac. The only flaw is the lack of some games, but hopefully there will be a greater trend towards native compatibility.
I have a MacBook Air... I wouldn't say I'd switched though, I use my Mac, windows computers and linux every day, so for me it's just another operating system on the list...
I wouldn't say I switched, par se. I was more or less handed a Macbook after previously lacking a laptop of any sort. It's nice, and it could potentially become my only computer for a few weeks if my desktop decides to crap out on me.
I'm really impartial when it comes to operating systems. If it can access the internet and play a few basic games, I don't care if it's presided over by the ghost of a bespectacled man or the life of a hippie humanitarian.

Here son have a few hundred bucks of equipment for free! lucky sod :(
It was old and my parents bought two this year.
So, naturally, I got one of the old ones.
Browsing the web with gestures has never been easier for me.. two finger scroll, three finger left + right to go back or forward a page. Four finger up to show your desktop to grab a file or something, four down to show all your active windows.
If you can help it, do Snow Leopard instead of Lion IMO, Lion is too IOSy.
Most importantly though, get Cinch for better window management. There's no 'full screen' without it, it just defaults to whatever the web page needs (to prevent useless stretching), personally I don't like it.
I switched about 2 years ago. I needed a laptop for coding on (I had an Eee 901 netbook beforehand), and my mates (battered even at that stage) Macbook looked so nice to use as a casual observer. Took the plunge and bought the only Macbook Pro I could afford as a poor student, and now the only thing I use my PC for is games (which is a big thing) and updating the firmware of my SSD.
I easily prefer using my Macbook just because I am so much more settled in the OS. With Windows the occasions i had to reinstall it, it always seemed to take a while before i felt like I was using "my" computer, instead of a computer. My mac, I felt at home instantly, and I feel like barring a few niche things (e.g. the SSD firmwares and games), I can do more on my Mac than on my PC, simply because I know/have the apps I need, and I am conformable with them. The quality of third party software on OS X is just lightyears ahead of Windows software generally.

That said I basically regret buying Lion. Snow leopard really nailed how an OS should work. Lion is just too buggy atm.
[editline]16th December 2011[/editline]
As is iOS5 for that matter.
In what way is Lion buggy?

Lion still has a few kinks, but that is how progress is made in the technology world.
