Flight Simulator X issues, freezes when attempting to quit

Mods, if this needs to go somewhere else, feel free to move it.
Hey there facepunch, I've got a (hopefully) quick question to ask. I've reinstalled Flight Simulator X, and just got it up and running today. After I started it, I did a quick glance over the graphics settings and the like to make sure my POS computer wouldn't kill itself. Everything looked decent, so I hit the "free flight" button and set off.
I flew around for probably a good hour or so, nothing too eventful. Much less lag than I had anticipated, scenery looked good enough, aircraft behaved well. But then I decided to hit esc and hit "end flight" to change out planes. Here's where things get screwy.
When FSX quits a flight from the in-game menu, the rest of the screen goes black save for that little menu. Well, I hit the end flight button, expecting to get back to the main screen. Instead, my whole screen just went black. It didn't shut off, it just wasn't showing anything. After waiting about ten minutes, with no change, I hit ctrl-alt-del, to see what the problem was.
Only thing is, task manager never came up. I could hear the menu music in the background, but there was nothing on the screen. When I clocked where the toolbar would be on the bottom of the screen, the music shut off like I had clicked off the application. (For those who may not know, FSX runs in a windowed screen until you actually start a mission) And when I clicked back onto where the application screen would be, the music came back on. So, basically, the game itself seemed to be still working, but the screen just wasn't picking it up?
Anything you guys could think of? I'm completely lost.
The best solution is to run it in a window.
This is an issue whereby the nVidia drivers don't play nice with FSX. It's to do with the antialiasing, and can be replicated in FS9 given the right settings. Unfortunately I don't know of a workaround, or at least I never could find one.
Try Googling the words "FSX nvidia antialiasing", and you may find a solution.

I never had a problem but I always had it in a window.
Alright, thanks. I'll do some looking, see what I can't pull up.
Hopefully getting a new computer soon anyway, so...
