No wonder, its easier to use your phone than it is to boot up the computer and do it there. Its been going on since smartphones caught on.

Depends on the bank really.
My bank's app is nice, but some apps are garbage and you have to use the website. (A couple banks are even so bad you're practically restricted to ATMs)
I only use mobile apps to check my balance. If I'm paying bills or rent or transferring money I always use a PC. Mostly because I hate touch screen keyboards. And because to me a phone is still just a phone, I don't want to do anything serious like pay rent with it.
I have an S5 neo, it's not a shitty device but I still don't like using it for anything other than games and youtube. I guess I'm old fashioned but I just prefer proper computers for stuff like banking.
It's a lot faster for me to unlock my phone then open the app, but I've only really used the app to check my balance and transfer money between accounts.
Ever since Chase added fingerprint unlock to Android I've pretty much exclusively been using the app. It's insanely convenient to check balances and pay my credit cards off with a few taps, even when I'm sitting at my desk.
All my banking is done exclusively on my phone while I'm just chilling. Makes live easy
Up until a week ago when I had to shuffle around some funds in CDs, I didn't walk into my bank for almost 6 months. My bank's app so far is pretty good as far as mobile deposit and checking funds. But if I want to go through my statements or more detailed stuff, i actually have to get on my PC.
