WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. health officials said on Friday they were revoking legal guidance issued by the Obama administration that had sought to discourage states from trying to defund organizations that provide abortion services, such as Planned Parenthood.
Keep your religious scruples out of healthcare and please go back to high school science classes. A fetus is considered to have personhood when its brain activity becomes coherent at 22-24 weeks of age, not at conception.

Found the problem. This bullshit has nothing to do with Science, man, they don't care. Even if they sat through said classes, they'd just claim Science is wrong and only God has the answers.

A person can always hope one can get through to at least a few people to not blindly believe in God having all the answers. /shrug

Even more ridiculous considering most churches proclaimed that life didn't begin until the first movement was felt from the fetus, the "quickening", until only a few decades ago. There's a weird revisionist effort to try to claim otherwise by some, but it shouldn't be too surprising considering the odd sort of hypotheses that people used to have for how fertilization worked.

I thought for the longest time the idea was to encourage the zealous to have more children than their peers by convincing them that contraceptives/abortion are unacceptable, increasing the influence adherent churches have. Policies such as this could have no purpose other than miring the less privileged in a cycle of poverty.

When we have tons of self driving cars, they'll probably find a way to say its Jesus who's taken the wheel

I'm sure this how machine worshipping cults start.

I can't wait until Tech Priest becomes a real occupation.
"Have you tried extinguishing your incense and lighting it up again?"
I love how the word "obama-era" basically translates to "not outright stupid times"
It's all so fucking dumb too because abortion services make up a very small amount of what Planned Parenthood does. They're much more dedicated to preventing unwanted pregnancies in the first place through means of birth control, and a provider of cancer screenings. But, hey, who cares about a few thousand more women dying a year to breast cancer if you can stick it to the libs.

You say that now but you ignore the fact that "Christian science" and anti-science denial is heavy in the religious community
