Trying to find a device to connect Xbox/Gamecube controllers to a PC.

Already have a few Gamecube controllers and just ordered an Xbox (original) one because it was cheap and I felt like it
The only adapter I could find that used both is this, but it isn't in stock anywhere at all:

And when it goes up, the price is usually a bit much. I wouldn't make my own adapter because I've no clue how and do not want to risk a perfectly working controller. Is there any other place I can find this, or any other in-stock adapter I can use? (also requested DealExtreme to put up this item)

Guess I have nothing to lose for that one, having never owned an Xbox. The Gamecube one would be a problem however, since I hear splicing cables on a wireless controller is less than easy.

I can confirm that the xbox project works. I did it a few years ago :)
There is an open source project that makes (made?) drivers for the xbox controller, but back when I did mine, I had to make a few changes and compile from source so that they would work following the release of XP SP3. I dont know if the project is still maintained.
I tried converting an xbox controller and completely messed it up - it's not as easy as it looks.
It is quite easy ._.
That being said, my connector looks terrible. To avoid putting strain on my solder points, I broke out the duct tape and went to town

Isn't it just resoldering the wires to a more traditional USB port?
Modding an Xbox controller to USB is easy as fuck, I did it pretty quickly.
As easy as it may be, it wouldn't look professional. Almost considering this for the ease of use, and not making it completely useless with an Xbox

But there is still the Gamecube problem, which I wouldn't mind splicing but that would make it useless with the Gamecube. :/

Original Xbox controllers use a different breakaway cable. So that doesn't work.
Unless your thinking of something completely different from me. I'm thinking of resoldering a original Xbox controller to standard USB connectors. I also have a USB extension cord so I'll use the female USB port as an adapter to the proprietary female USB port.
