• How do I disable YouTube HTML5 on Firefox?
    14 replies, posted
So recently on Firefox, YouTube is forcing me to use HTML5, there is no option to leave it in https://www.youtube.com/html5 anymore, and when I'm using html5 there is no quality setting higher than 360p, so I need the flash player. The only solution that I found so far is to disable media.webm.enabled and it works, but as the name says I can't watch any webm videos with it disabled. :suicide: Does anyone have any other solution?
youtube center is a good addon, and among other nice tweaks it allows you to choose the default player, which I actually did yesterday because I had the same problem
Should be seeing 720p as the highest resolution though on firefox
It's always only 360p when I use html5, and I see a lot of people with the same issue on google.
What version of firefox is it? 35.0.1 is the latest stable Either way, someone posted this into the youtube support group about fourteen hours ago saying it worked for them https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-flash-player/?src=search

You should be able to get html5 working reasonably well (is does have some glitchiness, especially if you try to seek in a video) if you add a new preference in about:config. In about:config right click then go new->boolean and give it the name of media.mediasource.ignore_codecs then set it to true. I used that when I switched over to the html5 player several weeks ago and while it's somewhat glitchy it does work and I have all resolutions available. However if you insist on disabling html5 you can attempt to do so through Magic Actions For Youtube. After installing that click the gear under a video on Youtube then look for "Force Player Type" and tick it and choose Flash. That method works perfectly fine for me when I can't get a video to work due to seek being messed up on html5 and Youtube loving to remember your position on a video at the most inconvenient of times. I already had Magic Actions installed but I didn't know you could force the flash player with it, I did it and it works on the youtube page, but embedded videos still plays in html5. :[
Get firefox beta, html5 works flawlessly for me now. you get every quality from 1080p60 to 144p
I changed media.mediasource.enabled to true and now it's showing all resolutions in HTML5, I guess I will stay with it.

I did. (Though in my case it crashed Firefox immediately when I went to load a video, lol.) Sorry about that.

Hm, well that's weird cause enabling only that option results in me not getting any options other than 360p and 720p. Oh well though, so long as it's working for you.
Just install internet explorer 11 :v:
