I am not being a sucker and buying this right away, only to be massively disappointed as the new consoles come and steal all the third party support. Only time will tell if this console can hold up.

Anyone who is remotely interested in playing Nintendo games will buy this regardless.
I'll probably pick one up eventually just play whatever new 3D Mario game or Zelda game that will eventually come out.
Dreamcast all over again.

Yes and no.
Yes, they have jumped the market for a new console by a large time frame.
No - they haven't included any hardware that truly as significant a leap as the dreamcast was over the other consoles of it's time.
I'll probably pick this up in a few months, I intend to pick up a new GPU and I can wait awhile.
I need to wait until next year so the price will drop hopefully. Right now the Wii U Deluxe Set costs 590 dollars there I live.
Not to mention that Nintendo knows how to run a hardware company and their past products haven't failed. I've never seen anyone mention how badly Sega fucked up in every single way up to the failure of the Dreamcast, to the weak-ass release of the Saturn all the way back to the Sega CD and 32X.
The Dreamcast a good console, it was before it's time, and hell, I love Sega, but the failure of the Dreamcast wasn't just premature hardwarejaculation.

They failed with the marketing because they didn't anticipate the other consoles to come and savage it so quickly.
The Playstation 2 stole it's thunder because of the usual 'OMG GUYS THE NEW PLAYSTATION IS HERE' and then the Xbox and Gamecube came and hammered the final nails in it's coffin.
Dreamcast all over again.
There will never be another dreamcast. Dreamcast had all the most badass and accurate console ports of all the best fighting games of all time, and was also the console that developers put their odd and obscure experimental games on. Like cannon spike and such, a capcom shoot em up starring fucking megaman and cammy.

It also didn't help that Sega had a bad track record beforehand. Yeah, the Genesis was a well-known product, but then the Sega CD came out with a handful - or less - of actually good titles, the 32X was pretty much a flop, and the Saturn did well in Japan but also flopped harder than the 32X did in America. With the legacy of the Playstation as the preferable (and common) system over the Saturn, Sony's Playstation 2 pretty much engulfed the Dreamcast.
Didn't help when one of the 'big' things about the Dreamcast, the sports games of excellent quality, got shut down when someone (was it EA?) licensed actual athletes and so forth, meaning Sega just couldn't continue on without fictionalizing it and killed off those games as well.
It's probably going to become hard to find again, just like when the original wii launched. I'll hold off for ahwile before I get one.
I'll probably hold off until the second half of next year, to let some games come out and to see if it's worth the investment. Looks like an interesting console though, with some nice features.

I don't really trust Nintendo after the Wii. But if it actually ends up getting non-gimmick games I might buy into it.

So just never buy a console again, because new ones will always come out after it.
(???)
I wish they never made those wii controllers, I hate them. With this console i hope they wont release tons of games i want but in order to play them you need that fucking wii controller to swing around and stuff like that, really annoys me.
