SYDNEY (AP) -- After nearly three years, the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has ended in futility. Crews have finally completed their deep-sea search of a desolate stretch of the Indian Ocean without finding a single trace of the plane.
The Joint Agency Coordination Center in Australia said Tuesday that the search had officially been suspended after crews finished their fruitless sweep of the 120,000-square kilometer (46,000-square mile) search zone west of Australia.
well, at least some parts of it washed up. so at least we got closure on the fact that it's out in the ocean somewhere.
They did the best with what they knew, the equation they used to extrapolate a search area from the satellite data had to assume a lot of variables so it was always a possibility that it didn't crash there or the search area was wrong.
I think, at this point, we have to face the probability that some of the people on board may have died.
It's already been three years? Fuck me.

At this point the strong currents have probably shredded and scattered the remains of the craft and its occupants that likely broke up in mid air, on impact, or both.
This is a aircraft made of thin layers of aluminum, composite and plastics all designed to be light. This isn't some solid steel WW2 battleship designed to survive giant bullets that'd last on the sea bed for years. By now I'd be shocked if there is a complete "wreckage" to be found. By now it's probably scattered over a few hundred miles partially buried in the mud and sand
I hate to say this, but finally. Sorry to those who lost their loved ones, but hopefully the funds can start going towards something worthwhile instead of a somewhat fruitless search.
Thought they ended the search ages ago. Must have been another plane.
Or according to channel 5, alien abduction (10:22)
