I hope this is a good thing?
If they do it well enough that it makes it as an esport of sorts, then I guess they made it hella replayable
The more they talk about eSports in relation to this game, the less I'm interested
When I play a game I want something fun, not something where everything is "balanced" into uselessness so butterfaced neckbeards don't kill themselves wheezing about how weapons are OP, and the gameplay is repetitious monotony so the matches are all the same
His argument is that the game is fun to watch, therefore it must be a good eSport, which isn't really true. Dark Souls for example has a good PvP element, and it's fun to see the different builds people try. But that doesn't mean it's an eSport, or should be one.
Everything doesn't have to try to be a fucking eSport. This isn't just something you make and try to get a piece of the pie from; most of the major eSport games didn't become eSports because they willed it so.
Watching people play this tournament style at E3 was the most bland shit.
Couldn't see shit and all you can hear is the minigun firing constantly no matter what player you were looking at.
As someone who got in to the Alpha: No potential. Jesus fuck this game is rough. There is so little to do as you chase the monster. There are a few ambient monsters, but they are basically an after thought, serving no purpose except occasionally be a nuisance because you misstepped. It only becomes active once you finally catch up to the monster after five minutes of chase, then its basically just a pure DPS fight, there is basically no strategy other than "Don't get hit, keep shooting. Trapper needs to remember to throw out harpoon traps." If you don't kill the monster, its another five minutes of chase to try again, over and over through the same path in the levels before you either finally kill it, or it hits Tier 3 and kills you.
Its basically a group running simulator. There is no competitive edge demonstrated thus far.

Well at least it's only in alpha, maybe between now and release the game will have plenty of time to evolve
But guys
with the way their presentation at E3 went, you already should have known they were gearing towards making a very balanced, dynamic sport-like game. There's nothing surprising about this at all.
The more I hear about this game, the less and less interested I am in it.
They keep doing all this extraneous garbage and aren't acknowledging the core design flaws in their gameplay. Unless they do, it's going to be utterly dead several months after launch when everyone gets bored.

Core design flaws?
Watch any video of multiple rounds. The exact same shit happens in every single match.
The monster has zero incentive to fight the players until he gets to max level. There is nothing, literally nothing, to gain by not running away. There are no objectives for him to fight over. It's just run run run run. Armor which you can regenerate, is lower at lower tiers of evolution. Health does not regenerate. The humans, should you manage to kill one, just respawn.
They need to have some objective for the monster to do. Something to force the team to split up, or accept that the monster is going to become much stronger. Something to encourage early confrontations.
As it currently stands, the game is boring to watch, and sure as shit looks like it will get very boring to play very quickly.
Yeah the game really doesn't look all that interesting. Looks basically like a soup up mutant modo from ut2k4.
So far from what I've seen is there is not much in terms of tactics the Monster can do besides just constantly attack or run. And EVERYTHING just seems to be a damage sponge, even the human players just standing there and constantly shooting back after being slammed into the ground 12 times. It plays too much like a moba to actually be taken seriously as a strategical hunting game.

Oooh, I only watched a single round. It looked like a neat MOBA-FPS combo, but those are very good points. I'll follow the game but a bit more hesitantly I guess.
