Unlimited Detail is a new technology for making realtime 3D graphics. Unlimited Detail is different from existing 3D graphics systems because it can process unlimited point cloud data in real time, giving the highest level of geometry ever seen. If this all sounds a bit technical to you, just press the "What is it ?" button on the side and we will try and explain things in a bit more detail.

The above picture contains billions of points and we can run it all in real-time.
This site has a gallery of pictures for you to look at, as well as some video clips you can download. We also have a technical clip that will explain Unlimited Detail in more detail.
We are in the process of Negotiating to get the Commercial version of Unlimited Details SDK built. After that, you should expect to see 3D graphics take a huge leap forward in about 16 months when Unlimited Detail comes out commercially, in Games and other products.
And to all the naysayers about animation

And here is their imageshack account.
I cant check to see if this has already been posted here because searching is disabled.
this isn't revolutionary, it's been done before
if they actually somehow managed to do this in a not very taxing way, I will be amazed
So, if you made Crysis v2 in this, you'd be able to run it at max graphics on a PSP?
So, if you made Crysis v2 in this, you'd be able to run it at max graphics on a PSP?
Yes, dunno why you would want to play Crysis on a PSP anyway though.
:holy:
You just picked up on this? This is old news
Wasn't this said to be entirely fake or something.
You just picked up on this? This is old news
I've known about it but whenever someone posts it on anything everyone bawws about animation. So I waited until they had an animation.
Doesn't look too great.
sounds fake.
And here is their imageshack account
Haha, that's hilarious.
their logo sucks ass
It's real you know, they have a website.
Looks like some thing I would see from some pre-rendered tech demo from 2000 showing the future of gaming.
Looks like shit.
Shitastic.
It's real you know, they have a website.
Having a website doesn't mean it's real.
I saw on youtube a video that is like this, but it's way better.
This looks like 2001 graphics brooooooo
They're programmers, not designers.
Looks like shit, and the logo looks like it's for some low-budget Korean porno company.
Unlimited Stupidity.
Holding out for John Carmack solution.
this isn't revolutionary, it's been done before

It isn't taxing, it's only renders what you can see, and cuts everything else out.
I believe just on board video can give a good fps with this visual processing style.
I don't see what's so shitty about it. The pictures aren't to amazing, but who would seriously want to go and make models for this, it would take forever.
People are missing the point and just saying "hurr it looks bad"
but who would seriously want to go and make models for this, it would take forever.
That's why it isn't used.
Name is wrong, too, unless all the textures are procedurally generated from the atomic level

Names can be misleading.
Physics and animation would become incredible issues with this kind of system.
From the description of how it works, it seems to be more of a compression algorithm than a rendering engine.
This is really old, and it does look stupid right now because of the graphics but remember. This guy isn't a designer, he just made a huge plant world to show off how robust it is.
Physics and animation would become incredible issues with this kind of system.
If there was a way to have this render worlds and then use polygons for the animations, it would be awesome.
^ Exactly the approach Carmack talked about.
like tessellation, it adds detail, but it doesn't collide? edit: of course you will have the collision bigger than where the detail is
