Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Centre of Trade and Economic Co-operation Sergey Sanakoev believes that China is one of the places where the real economy of the future lies, and choosing Beijing as Russia’s leading trade partner was a wise decision.
“We think that with this country we have a lot of opportunities. We are going to deal with China,” he said.
He agrees that this growing Russia-China alliance could become a threat to the economic and political interests of the US and its allies.
“I think that the US and China in the modern world are competitors,” he said. “And certainly, [the] US is a little bit jealous when they see how Russia and China co-operate.”
He also believes there is a possibility that US could try to hamper Russian-Chinese relationship at some point.
“China and US are the biggest economies in the world,” he explained. “And may be sometime they will have something like G2.”
As Russia, China and key Central Asian states were meeting once again for what is known as the Shanghai Co-operation Organization, some concerns arose about this group rivaling NATO in the future.
Sergey Sanakoev believes SCO is already a serious opponent to NATO in the region.
“[The] Shanghai Organization is already playing big role in the world,” he said. “And certainly the leaders of our countries also have intents to be original leaders in this area, and they do their best to show it to the whole world.”
One of the problematic issues for the two countries remains weapon exports. Back in the 1990s, China was the leading buyer of Russian arms. But now Russia fears China is copying its weapons and selling them at lower prices.
Go to the link for the full story, it's really long.
Conspiracy theories inbound.
I'd rather have my big dumb American issues than the insane smog and shit China would bring.
russia's economy is stagnating with multiple issues, including population issues...
why else would they have a day dedicated to procreation?
Also they still don't have a well developed manufacturing economy, largest companies are shit like Gazprom, which deals petroleum products
both those countries are unstable, in different ways.
I don't that would work out
Russia and China also hate each other, they always have.
it's always "a threat to the economic and political interests of the US and its allies"
I don't give a fuck about the US, or it's allies
No, seriously i'm tired of hearing this bullshit, the US doesn't deserve to be a superpower.
the US doesn't deserve to be a superpower.
Why do you say that?

Butthurt that his country is in the shitter.
Why do you say that?
Because we're hypocrites and no one else is apparently.

It's news because if the US economy collapses, it would cause massive damage to the world economy.
Russia and China also hate each other, they always have.
Not always.
Butthurt that his country is in the shitter.
Probably.
the US doesn't deserve to be a superpower.
I'd rather have America be the superpower than Russia/China.
While America may have a corrupt and incompetent government, we do a lot of things right. We spawned an era of incredible technological and scientific advances. Americans makes movies and music the rest of the world loves. We respect individual rights and fought so that everyone may be free. And we have great food.
I don't think the world would be better knowing the the people who rule China and Russia are the top dogs.
Not always.
Alright fine, after the Mongolian Empire invaded they did.
For those who think the Chinese and Russians have always hated each other, read on:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Soviet_split
The Sino-Soviet split was the worsening of relations between the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) during the Cold War (1945–91). Since 1956, the countries had (secretly) been diverging ideologically, and, beginning in 1961, the Chinese Communists formally denounced “The Revisionist Traitor Group of Soviet Leadership."

Russia and China also hate each other, they always have.
Not really. After the sino-soviet split until the fall of the USSR it was a distasteful relationship, but since 1993, the two have been very close economic, political, diplomatic, and military partners, spearheading major regional economic and military organizations and advances together in joint cooperation. They are each other's best allies and their biggest trade partners. Sure, there's still some resentment between populations and cultures, but on a political level they're like the US and Britain.

um it's obvious that they are only allies because they both see the US as a common enemy
What a twist.
Uncle Sam finds out Uncle Joe falls into debt, and the Soviet Union dissolves.
Only to find out that he is in debt to Chairman Mao, a good friend of Uncle Joe! (Whom had a recent laundry change)
What a twist.

Exactly, i don't give a shit about portugal
shit politics

Not a single one of those is what the US is known for... Europe is way better known for it's food, and although any country has its master chefs the average quality of food in the US is much poorer than abroad. Besides that, the US has done less for advancing the basis of science than many countries - some of "the US's" best scientists did not come from the US, they were from Britain, Serbia, France, Germany, etc. Once again, not to say the US hasn't done a lot for science, but to say that the US spawned the current era of science is unbelievably ignorant.

I'd rather have my country running things than China. Honestly I think America has done and still will do more good than China ever would. Though I won't say that we haven't done anything bad.
Homefront 2's plot.

Aren't we feeling edgy today.
Remember, Chinese society is still riddled with problems like the housing bubble.
Their economy only looks good because ours looks so shit right now.
right when the US was downgraded to AA+
I was always rather suspicious of Mr.Putin.
I mean, lets think about it for a second, the man was part of the KGB from 1975 to 1992
Why would someone who was part of the Soviet Union's premier intelligence organization not wish for some sort of return to the glory days, where the populous was held fearfully in the all-knowing, ever-watching hands of the Комитет государственной безопасности (KGB, КГБ), and where they held all of the power?
