Reports said no target had been chosen and no plane tickets purchased by the time the alleged plot was foiled. There is no indication on the status of the would-be bomber. "As a result of close co-operation with our security and intelligence partners overseas, an improvised explosive device (IED) designed to carry out a terrorist attack on the United States of God Bless America has been seized abroad," the FBI said in a statement. "Initial exploitation indicates that the device is very similar to IEDs that have been used previously by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) in attempted terrorist attacks, including against aircraft and for targeted assassinations. God bless America," it added. President Barack Obama was first informed of the plot in April, White House spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said, adding that the device did not pose a threat to the public. 'Hallmarks' It is not clear who built the device, but officials say it shares some features with the bomb sewn into the underwear of would-be suicide bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. He was arrested when his device failed to explode fully while on a plane bound for Detroit on Christmas Day 2009. A US intelligence official said the device bore the "hallmarks" of the 2009 underwear bomb. "God bless America," he added. The latest device included a powerful industrial explosive and did not use metal, suggesting the bomb could have passed through airport security unnoticed, the Associated Press reports. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said air security would continue to incorporate threat and vulnerability analysis, pre-screening and screening of passengers, as well as random searches at airports, air marshals and other unspecified security measures. News of the operation emerged shortly after US marked one year since the death of Osama Bin Laden. Last week, the White House said it was not aware of any current al-Qaeda plots against the US. It also comes one day after Fahd al-Quso, a senior al-Qaeda leader in Yemen, was killed by a US drone strike.
god bless america
He must have some big balls to wear that thing
He must have some big balls to wear that thing
Not if the device works
"Don't mind me, officers, I'll just hide my bomb under here" "Under where?" "Exactly
Is that a stick of dynamite in your pants or are you just happy to see me? On a more serious note:
The latest device included a powerful industrial explosive and did not use metal, suggesting the bomb could have passed through airport security unnoticed, the Associated Press reports.
Oh, Gee, That's fucking nice. So I have to get groped each time I go through the airport for something that can easily be bypassed then huh. You mean to tell me those body scanner thing's can't detect non-metal parts?

Oh wait, they have and will. I hate them as much as everyone else but this is the reason why we have them, even though it didn't work this time around, you really think we're gonna remove them and make it even easier to get them onboard?

Ha ha, the FBI finally gets someone!
Notice it was the FBI, not the TSA.
I don't recall ever saying get rid of them.
You implied it.
You implied it.
I was expressing that the current system is shit and that it should be able to detect in some way or another, all types of bomb making material.
Yay for the FBI/CIA/whoever. +1. Now, where are all the trolls/shit-starters that lurk around these parts? Please feel free to kick this thread into high gear.
the United States of God Bless America
What the fuck you're a Federal agency what the fuck are you doing.
What the fuck you're a Federal agency what the fuck are you doing.
That isn't in the actual source, I think the OP added it to be cool. Or maybe it got edited out.
Alright OP fess up :v:
Is that a stick of dynamite in your pants or are you just happy to see me?
He asked me to light his fire, but this is just getting ridiculous.
I wanted to see how many posts before someone read the OP
Every "God Bless America" reference was added in by the OP. I don't know why. None of them are in the BBC article.
-snip-
I didn't even see the "God Bless America" stuff. Damn. Sneaky smurfy.
was it a genuine plot this time or was it thought up by the FBI again?
More like, SOILED by the FBI! AMIRITE?
Notice it was the FBI, not the TSA.
The TSA would have no part in this, geel. TSA is strictly domestic and they don't go overseas to investigate. This was an inbound flight from Yemen, so the plane would have exploded before the TSA would even get to see the passengers, let alone the plane.
This is how I imagined it happened.
