All three 30cm-long dolls are exactly the same – except for the skin colour – and on the manufacturer’s website all three are sold at the same price of £23.
http://metro.co.uk/2015/01/22/argos-embroiled-in-racism-row-over-apartheid-toy-doll-prices-5031940/
- White Corolle Calin doll sold for £34.99 while others are priced at £24.99 - Mother-of-three Lisa O'Reilly complained after noticing pricing difference - 32-year-old said: 'It's unacceptable for children to think white is better' - Argos has now apologised to her and said it was a 'genuine pricing error'
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2921231/Argos-accused-racism-selling-black-Asian-dolls-10-white-toy-despite-exactly-same.html
Jesus fucking christ, people will complain about any fucking thing.
Political correctness is becoming a problem... :suicide:
maybe it was a pricing error in this case, but if for example the black or asian dolls didn't sell as much, wouldn't it be logical to reduce the price?
I would have complained because they were the same but one cost more. Not because the one was white, that's just looking for racism if you ask me.
maybe it was a pricing error in this case, but if for example the black or asian dolls didn't sell as much, wouldn't it be logical to reduce the price?
Supply and demand? It's funny how the other two dolls are seemingly more popular, having more likes on Facebook and a positive review each.
maybe it was a pricing error in this case, but if for example the black or asian dolls didn't sell as much, wouldn't it be logical to reduce the price?
Well, the error is up-pricing for the white doll, not down-pricing for the black and asian dolls. Looks like it could be an honest, if not unfortunate typo.
32-year-old said: 'It's unacceptable for children to think white is better'
What kind of moron do you have to be to think that Argos was somehow making a statement about race with this?
no wonder the asian doll is cheaper it looks creepy as fuck
White chocolate is more expensive than milk, dark, or Caramac - ban this sick filth!
"How dare you make our races more affordable than the expensive white baby!"
White chocolate is more expensive than milk, dark, or Caramac - ban this sick filth!
If I ever come across someone saying anything like this about food Christ save us
"It's unacceptable for children to think that white is better" When I was at the age where dolls and action figures and shit were popular with my age group, I wasn't looking at the price and making racial judgments
I believe them, there were a lot of pricing errors on Argos just after Christmas
People will literally pick a fight where they can nowadays.
Political correctness is becoming a problem... :suicide:
it was one person who kicked up a fuss, it's hardly a 'problem'
Maybe the black and asian dolls aren't selling?
Wasn't there a similar complaint a year or so back where there they complained with the lack of Black and Asian baby dolls... now they complain about the price
it was one person who kicked up a fuss, it's hardly a 'problem'
But don't you know that one person complaining meant 1000 people were offended but couldn't be bothered complaining
it was one person who kicked up a fuss, it's hardly a 'problem'
The attitude of kicking up a stink at any opportunity is pretty widespread nowadays. Ridiculous.
"What is supply and demand?"
Politically correct crusade is getting tiring as fuck. It's like we MUST find discriminatory things in everything.
Are people seriously going out of their way to complain about this? :v:
I had no idea this was a store, so I was like "Why is my local football team (Toronto Argonauts) selling dolls?" Then I read the article, and it made much more sense.
no wonder the asian doll is cheaper it looks creepy as fuck
I have come to spread the blood of the innocent.
Are people seriously going out of their way to complain about this? :v:
Once you have no problems to complain about you need to make new ones.
My only question is why does the asian doll have so much hair.
My only question is why does the asian doll have so much hair.
Ever watched asian porn?
The "white" one doesn't look white to me, it looks hispanic [editline]26th January 2015[/editline] So is it considered racist because blacks and asians are too poor to not be able to afford the ones matching their skincolor, or is it racist against white people because you have to pay extra money for the white ones?

It's a ridiculous thing to get worked up over though, I'm sure it was just a honest mistake.
