This is just a legal thing. It just means that any statements he makes while captured will not hold up in a US court, but it's not like you don't have enough evidence against him.

Nobody would ever let Bin Laden walk. This is an extraordinary case.
1. He has no rights. He's not an enemy combatant, yet he wages war on America. 2. He doesn't deserve those rights regardless. And if they catch him, they should tie him to a post in the middle of NYC.
The cruelest punishment for him would be to dump him in the middle of the U.S. with $1000 dollars, food and water. Just see how long he lasts. Crazy 'murricans.

So basically we have way more than enough evidence to convict him, so there's no reason to even talk to him, and thus no reason to advise him of his rights? That's silly, nobody tried within our justice system should do so without being informed of their rights, terrorist or not. This seems like more pointless pandering to the right-wing "Military tribunal, no rights, and hang 'em in the streets!" crowd.

He has the right to a trial, just like everyone else. It won't be a long trial, of course, but God help the attorney that has to defend him.
wow, are they actually close enough to catching him that this is has come up in discussion?
I think that if they catch him, some trigger happy soldier will shoot him on sight, even if he surrenders. Or Bin Laden will do some weird suicide bombing on the soldiers trying to catch him.
The last thing anyone in political office wants to do is publically defend Bin Laden's rights, haha. IF, and that's a big IF, he was taken alive, they'd make sure to follow every last legal requirement before they execute him. That way when it's all over the President can say yeah we executed him but only after he had due process of law. But right now there's no benefit to anyone defending his rights to a Miranda warning or anything else. That's how I see it.

In reality, most people who get arrested don't get read their rights. If they already have more than enough evidence to convict, they don't bother. The only time they do is before interrogating or if they need more evidence and think the suspect will talk freely. Besides, do you think bL will let himself be captured? Nutjob would probably go down fighting. Even if he did surrender, there's a decent chance he would "die of his wounds" before he arrives at a POW camp.
