Marvel is making big changes this year. In a special announcement made on the Colbert Report this evening, the comics giant will this fall have Steve Rogers pass his star-spangled shield on to Sam Wilson, making Wilson (otherwise known as the Falcon) the first black man to take on the official role of Captain America. This shift comes only a day after Marvel revealed plans to give the role of yet another founding Avenger, Thor, to a woman this fall, and follows with Marvel's overall push for more diversity in its biggest titles.
Everyone calm down, it's Falcon being made into Captain America, not just some random race-swap.
i thought Bucky turned into captain america?
anyhow i dont see the issue, pretty sure the Falcon is as american as Steve is
Wow, so ~politically correct~ and ~progressive~
Why not just use Isaiah Bradley? Why not just use Tarene?
I liked the Falcon as the Falcon.
I thought he looks cool.

Avatar doesn't fit
When the comic industry doesn't change people complain because it never changes.

You all need to fucking shut it for a second and at least try to appreciate the effort. Who knows, you may actually like it.

It's okay changing, by adding like, new characters and shit.
But taking old characters that people have loved for literally decades and then just suddenly deciding to change them into a female like Thor is just really fucking weird, why not just add a female character instead of changing a current one?
This is the worst shit ever. Why are they doing this? To appeal to retards?

The Social Justice League.

more importantly why should i care about this change
what bad has it done?
They could have had a token minority double whamy with a female black Thor, but I guess this works too.
Next up: Spiderman decides to come out of the closet as a transexual
What's next? Transgender Spiderman?

Well Andrew Garfield wanted him to be gay in the movies.
Is Homophobia a bannable offense on FP? If yes, does a "faggot" get you banned?
So are we calling him Captain Falcon or what

So what though ? It's a welcome change. If it doesn't work, just revert back to what it was before.
Like, we're not talking about George Lucas here, Marvel doesn't retroactively edit all of their previous comics so it fits their new decisions.
Next up, Batman comes from a poor family.

Batman is DC so Marvel will have problems doing that
What's next? Transgender Spiderman?
We already have Black Spiderman.
Anyways, I don't see this as being as stupid as FemThor. Sam has a legitimate connection to Cap. But Sam's powers are absolutely jack shit for the job as Captain America. Dude doesn't even have heightened strength.
Should've given the mantle back to Bucky or the US Agent.
Captain Africa better be able to jump really high at least
who cares

The way I see it when you create a character, that's pretty much it. Save from minor, necessary changes (for example if making a movie version of a novel the odds of getting somebody IDENTICAL to how the author described/pictured them is probably pretty low) the character is pretty set in stone (unless of course the author has been intentionally vague and they're, y'know, not).
Not to mention with the Thor one: the Marvel character is based on, y'know, the mythical figure who is distinctly known for not having a vagina.
Who the fuck cares - they're fictional comic book characters.

Marvel's Thor is very loosely based on the actual Thor.
By now all they have in common is the fact it's a person wielding a hammer.

OH GOD NO, not the poor filth!
Okay, so why should I cry. Because he's black? I mean, if this is just another character within the universe taking the previous Captain America's spot, wot? It's not like he magically turned black or female like that Thor thing.

Or they could just have Thor be unworthy of Mjolnir for whatever reason and loses it then some woman picks it up and is worthy.
I like how there is absolutely no winning with this sort of thing these days. Create a straight white male character and you're cis scum. Create a black/female/LGBT character and you're pandering to SJWs.
