You are looking at Apple's next iPhone. It was found lost in a bar in Redwood City, camouflaged to look like an iPhone 3GS. We got it. We disassembled it. It's the real thing, and here are all the details.
While Apple may tinker with the final packaging and design of the final phone, it's clear that the features in this lost-and-found next-generation iPhone are drastically new and drastically different from what came before. Here's the detailed list of our findings:
What's new
• Front-facing video chat camera
• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
• Camera flash
• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
• Improved display. It's unclear if it's the 960x460 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the "Connect to iTunes" screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
• Split buttons for volume
• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic
What's changed
• The back is entirely flat, made of either glass (more likely) or ceramic or shiny plastic in order for the cell signal to poke through. Tapping on the back makes a more hollow and higher pitched sound compared to tapping on the glass on the front/screen, but that could just be the orientation of components inside making for a different sound
• An aluminum border going completely around the outside
• Slightly smaller screen than the 3GS (but seemingly higher resolution)
• Everything is more squared off
• 3 grams heavier
• 16% Larger battery
• Internals components are shrunken, miniaturized and reduced to make room for the larger battery

I like it.
gizmodo is down and this was just posted in the apple section
Front facing camera, for chatroulette on the go.
Awesome, that will be my phone 2011.

Oh dear jesus, the sea of dicks just got bigger.
I have mixed feelings about it. I kind of want the Nexus to beat it.
Speaking of the devil.

Someone's ass is going to be sore tonight when Steve finds out about this....
Who the fuck uses micro SIM cards, these don't exist here in greece at all :saddowns:
It looks pretty sleek though.
.. I was expecting something more interesting
I like the way some poor fuck managed to leave this in a bar. Of all places to take a prototype product.
I like the visuals it looks much more powerful now, rather than the girly curves before. (If it's real, which it looks like)
I was expecting a dildo, but hey, what do I know.

Someone's cards are gonna be up for sure.
I see insane monthly cellphone bills just by looking at it
I really doubt this is the direction Apple is taking. Looks cheap and from 2004.
Looks like it's modeled after the iPad.
I want one.
Is apple ganna get the guy who lost it killed like the 3GS in China?
Fuck everything I was just about to cancel the contract for my old 3G and this shows up.

Oh you!
Meanwhile at Apple:

"I'm a viral marketing genius"
It has been reported lost
Apple-connected John Gruber—from Daring Fireball—says that Apple has indeed lost a prototype iPhone and they want it back:
So I called around, and I now believe this is an actual unit from Apple — a unit Apple is very interested in getting back.
Obviously someone found it, and here it is.
So someone finds a iphone and the first thing they do is dismantle it? What a dick. If this really is real (not sudo-advertising, etc), they possibly fucked over the phone owner's job. Way to go.
cud b cool

Well, it won't boot so what else would they do with it?
Looks superb. HD screen too.
I'm pretty sure this isn't it. It doesn't fit in with apples style at all, it looks like a brick.

I don't know. Maybe return the phone?

Haha, nice one. Why the heck would they do that? Finding a prototype is like finding gold!
haha, I like how there are zero 'new' features. it's just "bigger screen" or "bigger battery". sure, it looks different but as of now it offers no real improvement over the current model other than a higher res (oh wait my bad it has a front facing camera, I better go spend 200$ for that). is it even faster?
they still don't have SD or MicroSD support, and OLED screen would be nice.

Yeah and disassembling it and posting it all over the Internet is grounds for a huge fucking lawsuit.
I'm calling fake on the story. It's a viral marketing scheme.
