I looked for an existing CandyJapan thread after subscribing to see what others thought of the club but couldn't see one, i just received my first package so decided to create one. If its a popular topic i will improve the op.

Puccho Balls
Puccho is very popular in Japan. They usually come in squares with little gummies inside, and there of tons of different flavors depending on where in Japan you find them. These soda flavored Puccho Balls have a crunchy outer-shell with a chewy and sour center that makes your mouth fizzle! The package is also designed to slide, so you can keep your Puccho yummy and fresh.

Chocolate Shimi Corn
This wafer snack is soaked in chocolate and they really want you to know it! The package reads "shimikonda," (しみこんだ) which means "to soak." It's crispy, practically melts in your mouth and doesn't really taste like corn. Go figure. It's in the shape of a star, hence the smiley little mascot on the wrapper.

Juu-C Kit
This is like a DIY Pez kit. It comes with pineapple and grape flavors, as well as soda flavor. It has a very nostalgic chalky texture and it's very sweet! You can set it up in no time by following along with this video and my instructions below.

That's something i would waste my money on
is Japanese candy that special or is it just the wrapping and stuff that makes it interesting?
I'm not really into Japanese stuff but those Puccho balls sound amazing, I would get this just to try them
the puccho are pretty good, they have a lot of flavour i like them even though i usually wouldnt eat that sort of candy, im a chocolate person so im looking forward to eating the chocolate corn thing and trying to save it.
if you look at the list of candy they have sent in the past most arnt the sort of thing you get in the uk, i subbed after seeing the red bean/white bean monaka/momoyama they sent out a couple of months back
This is a great idea but even though I understand that international shipping isn't cheap only getting 3-7 items twice in a month isn't enough for me for that price.
Puccho is so good, I haven't had the balls yet though. I remember back in middle school kids would rave about Hi-Chew and I would just be there eating ym Puccho. Hi-Chew tastes like shampoo or something, it's really gross. Since I would go to Japanese stores weekly, I'd pick up and Puccho and Hi-Chew and sell the individual pieces for 2 - 4 dollars each. :v:

Yeah, personally being Japanese I just get all my Japanese snacks from the local Asian grocery.

If I'm feeling really up for something that's more obscure, I can go to the bigger Asian grocery an hour over in Detroit and pick up anything sensible. Nearly every big city has one.

It's presumably for the same reason I like anime. You can find the weirdest yet surprisingly interesting stuff. Just look at their flavors of KitKat. Banana, cookies and milk, vanilla beans, orange, cherry, strawberry, creamy english tea, tell me you don't want to try some of these.

the stuff candy japan is sending is generally just stuff u can get at larger asian groceries for far cheaper tho
if u really need some obscure shit from japan you gotta get someone over there to get it for you (or go yourself) and if you're in the mood for some weird food it's far more efficient to go around to a different restaurant a few times a month and try out some weird shit

and outside of the novelty value and some snacks they do well, as a whole japanese candy is just overpriced compared to even imported europ candy
Isn't stuff in Japan on the whole really expensive?
To be honest I find their packaging design to be cool. Its like american products here in Europe, its cool to see a box of pop tarts. Maybe its also because its so "exclusive" and hard to come across, but all in all it may be cool and exciting to try something for the first time, but in the end its just some candy after you tasted it. Its probably just like how japanese people look at europeans and go "Oh my god they have marzipan!"

My brother was one of the winners of this giveaway, he got the box one. The everyburgers and the 2 bags with the japanese names were just chocolate and biscuit mixed in different shapes. Other than the novelty of the package and shape theres not much else to it. I dont mean its bad, but its not something I would buy after trying it.
Traditional candies though are something that is more worth getting excited about

I hear there's a lot of "anime enthusiasts" over in Detroit, mostly just because of the Piko Piko Detroit guys who are part of the anime/chip scene there. Are there actual Japanese people over there, or is it just weebs that help those shops flourish?
Even here in Curitiba, Brazil there's a place called the Municipal Market where there are lots of japanese stuff etc. 25$ is a steal imo. Nice idea though!

there is a p decently large japanese community around the Novi - Farmington Hills area so its pmuch a little Japantown of michigan
Asian grocer I pass by every day to Uni sells a lot of foreign food, including Japanese Candy. It's too expensive though, like $5-9AUD for some of the more gimmicky ones.
Where in Japan can I buy Puccho? never heard of!
Needs more Mochi cake/Daifuku

Looks disgusting but it's gooooodddd
I had a daifuku crepe the other day. Man, that was so good. I can not have too much red bean paste in one sitting, or else it starts tasting really odd.
After almost 3 years living in Japan I can say I really don't like Japanese candy. I mean regular old chocolate Meiji and Ghana bars are fine and some gummis are fine but the off the wall random crazy shit you don't see in America (like the stuff in OP) really doesn't taste that good to me.
Wait... Let me get this straight. You pay roughly $25.00 for only 2 packages that, judging by your picture are only ¥500 in value, so you essentially pay ¥1,000 ($10) a month plus $15 for shipping? A tad expensive don't you think? I suppose it's cheaper than some other sights that try to rip people off. But there are things way better out here that just the Candy. KFC or Pizza potato chips for example, or fresh tuna rolls for 711.

Yeah, Japanese chocolate is too bitter. I love some of their snacks though.

This lasted us roughly 2 days.
I kinda want to try this out but it seems kinda expensive for what it is.

Three, but I ate most of it.
I miss the boss latte coffee

Go on the website, there's more stuff than what's in the OP. Nonetheless it's a niche market so of course it's not going to be cheap.
honestly I love the Japanese sweet breads and salty snacks more than the candy, but with all japanese snacks and junk food there's this wonderful feeling that you can consume a ton of it and still feel great afterwards
Yeah $25 is kinda lot but I guess whether it's worth it or not depends on if you live near any Japanese markets. imo Japanese candy isn't even that great except for that gimmicky "make your own candy meal" which isn't even edible most of the the time. Most of it is stuff that's made to taste like soda or just some chocolate and biscuits. I'm a bigger fan of Japanese drinks personally, can't beat that Calpico.

Look, I know I don't have room to talk since I actually live in Japan and can get whatever I want, but I can't help but feel they're just taking advantage of you charging exuberant prices just because you have an interest in Japanese snacks.
Another site that sells Japanese food.
