I have a dire need to find some suitable music to listen to while studying, to block out the TV blaring in my ear all day.
I'm sure other people have a need for this too, so post the songs you listen to while studying.
And don't brag about how you can listen to death metal while studying; chillaxed music only. However, I do love all genres including death metal, just not while studying.
Songs without many lyrics are great. Here's two that come to my mind.
Rather Lovely Thing - Nick Cave & Warren Ellis

Lebenese Blonde - Thievery Corporation

Anything by Jon Hopkins work great for studying.

Any Wishbone Ash's song.
Miles Davis always comes to mind for stuff like this.

Pink Floyd's more atmospheric stuff fits well too.

Some of the chiller stuff on the Cowboy Bebop OST

And some WEG never fails

I usually play some ambient music or post-rock, but I prefer silence when I study.
Apparently if you play a single song on loop while studying it helps you remember stuff better, by remembering the song.
Or so I hear.

I find Atom Heart Mother really good for this, particularly Fat Old Sun.
Boris - Absolutego had an adderal like affect on me when I did homework to it. It's pretty rad.

This is giving me GTA3 flashback[sp](FM)[/sp]s.
I listen to Flying Lotus all of the time when I am studying.
I find vocal-less music is best for studying. You get so wrapped up in vocals that you lose concentration. So with that said i would say if ya want any good tunes to study to, look into artists that don't sing during their music. If you like it (and im not saying you will) a tune by deadmau5 will be good. But its electronic music so it may not appeal to everyone!
I study better when I sing along.
For some reason I often listen to The Clash when I study.
Anything by Meshuggah.
I have no idea why, but I study really well with non-melodic extreme metal on.
Currently on a 36 hour session for a hand in around 10 hours time, not far from the end. New deftones album has made it fun.
Drone Doom, or Drone music in general, turned low enough as to not distract but enough to be sort of a white noise.
