The opposition is demanding to know what steps have been taken to address security concerns over foreign companies operating in Canada's telecommunications industry, in the wake of a CBC News report about a Chinese firm's contracts in Canada.

Who cares? Almost a quarter of the people I see daily are Chinese immigrants anyways. Huawei is already banned from US and Australian telecom contracts because of security concerns, I think it should be fair competition. I mean, whats the worst that could come out of China doing a little espionage here and there.
Who cares. Urban Powers care, Why? Because china is a super power because of its shear numbers, tech, and cash. What China decides to do in the coming decades is a mystery.
You know who cares locally? This isn't about espionage, it's about trying to uphold the triopoly created by Bell, Rogers, and Telus in the telecom market. I just wish they'd open up the market for Internet service to foreign companies, shattering the duopoly of Bell and Rogers, then maybe we could get fair Internet service here.
Espionage is already very rampant here. I doubt that through the low cost of Wind sticks and phone plans the chinese are trying to further skim us.

There's Cogeco and Tek Savvy.
I also used to work for Bell, and they are a terrible company. Customer service is poor, they provide salesmen with lists of addresses to go and knock on and annoy people, they will overcharge the bill $400 for no apparent reason. And the people who do have bell hate it but are with them because there is no other real companies to go after.

Also Shaw, but it's mostly Western Canada. Not that bad, though I believe they do throttling now. Not sure, since I switched to Telus.

They don't throttle, they have better plans then Tek Savvy now too. 100Mbps/25Mbps which is pretty good but too expensive for me.
