System restore failed yet windows 7 boots up fine after that and says that the restore was a success

Okay, so for some reason my computer was failing to boot up. I tried to do startup repair but it kept failing. And then went to do a system restore and choose to restore my computer to 3 days ago. So the restore happens but at the end it came up saying that the restore failed and that nothing changed with my computer, yet when the computer restarted windows finally booted up normally and said the restore was a success.
Now i'm not complaining that my computer is working fine now, but i'm worrying that something may have gone wrong with the restore process as in 'it restored the files to let the computer boot up but may have not fixed other files that could be important to having the computer work fine'.
My OS is windows 7 if that could mean anything.
I had this exact same issue a bit earlier, and soon my computer went damn slow and non-responsive after a day or two. It turned out to be my hard drive failing and needing to get replaced.
I'd recommend backing up all the important files you have on hard drive in case you also turn out to have same problem. Just don't get the new hard drive until current one actually does show signs of slowing down after having your computer on for a few minutes.
