On Ebay i have been trying to bid for a Dell screen (2407 or 2408wfp) as my current one is dead & I'm stuck using 2 17" Dell 1708fp's, Now i have been watching this item and bidding on it on & off. Now with 2 seconds to go i put a bid in for £175 (the auction was at 165) and it says i have bid successfully and i am the current highest bidder. then the page refreshes and i think i have won the item, only to get an email saying i didn't win, and the winning bidder gets it at £176. This has happened to me 18 times now, this being my 18th, i have put a bid in as late as 0 seconds (and it has gone through just in time) but someone else STILL wins the item. How do you win auctions on ebay, is there some kind of hack i need to force my bid in after everyone elses but just before the auction ends?

Buy a new one. Will be cheaper in the long run.
Just give up, eBay sucks.
you would think after the 3rd or 4th time you would stop
I don't give up easily, and besides i need a new screen, i will only go for certain models (ie 240wfp, 2408wfp or a faulty 3007wfp as i can repair it)
Make your own online auction website where only you can purchase items. :downs:
Make your own online auction website where only you can purchase items. :downs:
This. Greatest idea ever. It's happened to me too. They need to make a rule on that. It's BS!
My dad uses a bid sniper.
Go to a shop. [editline]07:06PM[/editline] :frogdowns:
Yeah, Hammersnipe is good.
Buy from Gumtree instead, it's usually cheaper than Ebay and has less hassle. I just got a £100 midi keyboard for £40, and my friend got a £400 mixer for £30.
my current one is dead & I'm stuck using 2 17" Dell 1708fp's
Stop whining, I've been using 1 16" CRT screen for 8 years
No, there's no hack. Someone just bid on the item after you did, before the auction ended.

IT WASN'T even an expensive item so it is kind of a piss take
It's called sniping. Some jerk-offs use programs specifically designed to do this. It's lame.
Have you tried Gixen? It's pretty much a last second ebay bidder.
newegg.com
paypal closed my account and i nearly lost £300 because i was apparently a fraudster, hitman, criminal, murderer and violator of many laws for tieing a bank account to my paypal account and selling things on ebay never again
Have you tried Gixen? It's pretty much a last second ebay bidder.
Yeh this or another "sniping" program. Basically you enter in the id and it parses the time ending bits of the auction and with 2 seconds to go it places the bid and snipes all the other bids. I sold a guitar once and i had 3 bid snipers bidding on it and the price went up like 20 times in the last 10 seconds, it was ridiculous. Good for my sell price though :smug: Use a sniper or keep trying, but most people are using snipers for items they really want / need, so you'll find it tough to beat them.
This is why I LOVE the danish ebay called QXL, because if you make a bit and there's less than 5 minutes left, it adds another 5 minutes to the timer. This way people can't ninja it.
I personally don't see anything wrong with sniping because it is quite funny, but when it happens to yourself then it is quite annoying!! :argh:
Just snipe yourself.
Just snipe yourself.
will do
Gumtree is awesome.
Newegg. Or auction snipe
I hate that, i was bidding on a broken ipod touch, because mine was stolen and i have a two year warranty on it, so i can just get it replaced. Then some bitch comes and takes it with 2 seconds left. For 25$ FUCK
