EA, Microsoft, Zynga formally oppose law preventing gay marriage
Game companies Electronic Arts, Microsoft, and Zynga have joined numerous other parties in a formal amicus brief that opposes the United States' Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as the legal union between one man and one woman, and stands as one of the largest obstacles against gay marriage in the country.
The companies say the Defense of Marriage act is discriminatory, hurts morale, and even creates some uncomfortable tax issues within their organizations. The parties in the brief, which also include Viacom, Starbucks and the cities of New York and San Francisco, among others, are urging the U.S.'s Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to find portions of the Act unconstitutional.
The brief itself was filed in the case of Karen Golinski v. the US Office of Personnel Management, which is examining the validity of the contentious U.S. law. If the case goes all the way to the Supreme Court, it could become the ultimate test of the legislation's contitutionality.
Even outside this brief, companies like EA have been particularly outspoken about their support for LGBT employees of late. For instance, EA openly participated in the San Francisco and Seattle Pride events this year, and took part in the extremely popular "It Gets Better" campaign.

EA lost my respect with Mass Effect, I might be switching to apple or Linux, and Zynga is basically spyware. What they should do is keep their noses out of politics and back where they belong, software industry. do they really think gays are going to start coming out of the woodworks and getting married? They're not even exclusively monogamous in marriages already, which are basically redefined civil unions as far as the federal government is concerned. Homosexuality is ideologically based, and the homosexual community hasn't presented a compelling state interest in same-sex marriage. These three companies can stow it! Homosexuality has never been proven natural, and it's abnormal. The sooner gays stop coming out of the closet, the sooner society can get back to being normal. What's next pedophiles? If you don't think it can happen google "adult child attraction" and see what the pedophiles are trying to change the definition of pedophilia into.
More US based mega corporations should do this, maybe eventually it will have some impact.
I can't take that "star comment" seriously, that just seems to extreme. Especially when he/she takes up pedophilia.
great now stop being assholes to everyone else
Wow they're all actually doing something right for a change.
What a shock turn of events.
With support like this, I'll be able to marry legally in no time.
The pedophilia argument is the oldest argument against gay marriage in the book. And it doesn't even make sense.
Surprised he didn't bring up "man marrying his dog" or something.
While the cynic in me looks at this and yells "Publicity move", I can't fault them for going for it. Good on them, and hopefully this kind of thing will start making a bigger impact soon.

Opinions like that are not trolling, they exist. I have witnessed people who think just like this, linking homosexuality to pedophilia and beastiality, amongst other things. Don't worry, you're not the only one who finds it amazing that people can be that dumb.

I don't think the comment was saying homosexual's are pedophiles, I think he was saying they're similar things (not agreeing with him).
why is same sex marriage mainly outlawed in most of the US anyway
there's no real rational conclusion to deny people in a same sex relationship certain benefits and rights

Because people are fucking stupid. Not just here but all over the world.
So many words in the title... I got so confused. Nice to hear though!

Well what they said it was, not too long ago is the diseases it can spread from non protection, from the virtually impossible chance of pregnancy.
But now it's all pride, "fuck change we meant what we said even though we didn't even say it!"

If Valve publicly supports gay rights, then I'll still buy their video games!
Also, I feel like a lot of companies support gay marriage just for publicity and stuff, because I'm pretty sure a lot of them don't actually care if gay marriage is legalized or not.

Well I just want them to come out because
1. They're my favourite game developer (2nd is Rockstar)
2. It'll make the push stronger

Sadly there are people who believe that, as udderly stupid as they may be.

Well, if you don't outright state that you oppose gay marriage, then everyone will just assume you don't.

I'd just settle for some internet/power providers and oil companies. That'll keep these idiots offline and reduce their ability to vote.
The US is fucking retarded. For every step forward they take 100 steps backwards.
I mean, how can it possibly even be possible that homosexuals are discriminated in such a way in a country, it's mindboggling.

Um not everyone in America hates gays. There's been like gay pride parades and more states legalizing it, plus many companies are supporting it. (read the title)
EA and "support" do not go well together.

Gay marriage is DLC.

EA lost his respect, that's nice. You plan on switching to Apple? Do you mean MacOSX? Either way, Apple support gay marriage too, and I doubt someone with the mental capacity of this commenter has the aptitude to use Linux. Zynga isn't "basically spyware", it's just Facebook games - and they have no access other than to friends that you allow them to look at to send invites to.
Then how is pedophilia related to homosexuality? And what's wrong with gays coming out of the closet, as far as I know they don't commit atrocities against mankind because they prefer a different gender to most. The quicker these kinds of people drop their hateful and biased beliefs, the quicker society can change from being normal, and turn to being better than normal.
Assessed conclusion: Retarded.

EA has redeemed themselves a bit because of this move.
But not enough like when I enjoyed playing EA games.
I think that all of these companies are simply saying that in order to boost their PR (considering they're all pretty shitty already, except Microsoft).
I don't think EA and Zynga care either way
I mentally facepalm every time someone says "homosexuality is unnatural", because of how uninformed the person saying that is.
Even animals occasionally form homosexual couples (that gay penguin couple was all over the news on several occasions), you can't get more "natural" than that.

I'm sure they're just jumping on Google bandwagon to get a bit better PR, and it seems to be working for them.
