• I Got My Parents' Huge Old, Rare Record Collection [120+ Vintage Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys

I was looking for my old suitcase in my mom's closet today, and instead I found a box of vinyl records. I didn't know she had much music, she said she had a collection of her and my Dad's old stuff but had apparently lost it. Either she REALLY didn't look hard enough or just didn't bother to. Regardless, I pulled out the box to look at some crappy soundtrack albums and Rod Stewart but I was stunned when I found stuff like this:

I told her about it and she said I could have them as long as I don't destroy them, which would make cutting off my big toe look smart. I looked through the rest of the collection of over 120 7"s and 12"s and figured you guys might like to see this too. Here's a complete list of what I found (give or take a few I missed, not by much though) ALL of these records were 1st pressings, or similar. You can tell from the Chinese characters and tracklisting differences. NOTE: Introducing... The Beatles! is one of the most frequently counterfeited albums in history, but I have a really good feeling that this one is a legitimate first copy. She had it since she was a kid, like age 11-13. Since it wasn't really counterfeited much until the 70s I seriously doubt that it's fake. I'll check it tomorrow to make sure.
There are at least 120 pieces of music in this box so I only took pictures of what I liked the most. I did take full pictures of three records inside and out, here they are. Clearly they aren't exactly in perfect condition, but I suppose it makes sense seeing as how it hadn't been acknowledged for at least ten years and they were only kept in a box.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Sticky Fingers

The White Album
Feel free to request any pictures of any one of the records and I'll do it for you. I just wanted to share :3 Oh, and can anyone tell me if any of these records would still be worth much? Clearly some of them are damaged (they really aren't that fucked up, but some that were frequently used by a teenager fifty years ago are worse than others) but all the actual vinyls look just fine. Those Beatles LPs really make me wonder... I wouldn't sell these, it's just something I'm curious about :3:
Nice. That's pretty much a gold mine of records. [editline]28th July 2011[/editline] Your mother really knows her stuff.
Man, my parents sold all their records in college...
ask them why they stopped collecting.
man all those albums and there's no Pet Sounds.
I expected more Bowie, but there's two Stevie Wonder records. :v:
I hope I get my Dad's albums Probably not I hope I get his sound system though >:D, it's so misused, mom is a nazi and now he can't listen to music anymore because she complains about it every time he puts an album on
She says that she remembers having a couple of albums that wasn't in this box, like With the Beatles, What's Going On, and a couple of Bob Dylan albums her boyfriend got her in college when they both used to smoke a fuck ton of pot. And once I saw Today! I just searched the whole box for Pet Sounds but I was let down :C The worst part of all is how my Dad used to have a good collection of his own, but his 2nd wife fucked him so hard for them. He had Ummagumma, DSoTM, The Wall, Animals, Wish You Were Here, Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, Soundtrack to the Film More, and A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Not a single Pink Floyd album in this bunch D: [editline]28th July 2011[/editline] Oh, he also had the Beatles' recalled Butcher album cover. My cousin tore it apart as a toddler. Terrible.
Not a single Pink Floyd album in this bunch D:
How can you find a Yes album and not a Pink Floyd album. No sense was made. :)
Well all that is awesome My parents were at record-buying age in the early '80s so most of the ones I could get from them were punk rock / new wave / synthpop Also what the fuck happened to that copy of The White Album, it looks like it's had Magical Mystery Tour pressed onto it?
fucking yes remain in light i want that on vinyl
GAWD
DAYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMM
You lucky son of a bitch. Holy shit, that's a gold mine right there.
You've struck the goddamn motherload there.
Ok I've been hunting to find out if this Introducing... The Beatles is counterfeit. I've used this site http://www.eskimo.com/~bpentium/beatles/intro/intro.html So far I'm leaning towards the idea that it's a Version II Mono. The inner sleeve is plain white, the disc doesn't have separated album and band names, etc. Here I'll just put up some pics:

I'm pretty sure we got a real one here, albeit a relatively standard one.
My parents passed these on to me AND YEAH, I LOVE SAM COOKE
I would kill for those Beatles LPs.
My parents passed these on to me AND YEAH, I LOVE SAM COOKE
OOOOHHH FUCK I want Freedom of Choice so BAD But the Pink Floyd... fuck... next time I see some at my local record store I'm emptying my bank account on em
OOOOHHH FUCK I want Freedom of Choice so BAD But the Pink Floyd... fuck... next time I see some at my local record store I'm emptying my bank account on em
Yeah man, Devo is the way to go!
you should be ashamed not liking the rod stewart you have. those are two of his best albums. get shot
I never said I didn't like him. I just implied that he looks silly and it's like all my Grandma listens to anymore. Maybe I'll give them a good listening to once I get my record player back this weekend.
I would kill for that Pastorius vinyl
Holy shit. And I thought some of the stuff I got off my parents had got was good! Incredible.
Why is that white album in such shitty condition?
Why is that white album in such shitty condition?
looks like Magical Mystery LP was pressed up against it for years. Easy explanation.
My parents managed to lose their entire collection. No idea how it happened.
all my dad ever listened to was the smiths and the cure so thats what I got.
