Intricate top-down 2D game under creation. Seeking artists.

Hello,
I'm currently extensively working out the details of an upcoming 2D top-down game. However, I'm also trying not to spoil too much of the games' mechanics and how it will work so I'll need to stay discrete on this thread. IF you are interested though, you can come in contact with me and I'll give you much more details (Screenshots of what's currently being worked on). You'll have to show me some of your work first as a guarantee you're not just doing this to get a peak of what's happening without really wanting to help.
The game will be an island survival game. Sort of like Stranded 2, except with much, MUCH more depths, a countless amount more of buildable tools/objects than Stranded 2. Also, it will have an actual immersive story.
The main aspect of the game I want to develop is that there will eventually, possibly a few months after release, be virtually no "combination" that doesn't exist. If you can think about making an object with a certain combination, then you probably can. How do I intend on achieving that? Well a few ways. One would be to simply weekly update the game by adding ideas that people e-mail me such as "how come I can't scrape fat off fresh animal skin to use as oil?!", "how come I can't use a sharp stone to cut off tree bark?!" "how come I can't do this with that?!" etc. Another possibility is to log in a text file EVERY failed attempt of a combination and whenever you close the game, ask for permission to send that text file over to my server.
Anyways, I am currently seeking both artists able to make top-down 2D graphics and artists able to work on sound effects. I myself will be doing the "coding", some graphic design, the administration, balancing and even some graphics myself. ( I'm a multimedia student, I can do pretty much everything, but it's such a huge project I'm going to need help if I want to finish it within a year. :P )
For the 2D graphics, things such as the items will need to be done in a more or less specific style. Branches, dry wood, stones, sharp stones, knives, axes, ropes, vines, fish, fishing rods, etc. There's literally hundreds of items, but whatever you CAN do will help, obviously don't expect you to finish all the items yourself, that'd probably be a killer.
As for the sounds, at first I'm going to need some background music (I'm thinking of taking that off newgrounds and giving credits) but most important are the sound effects. Footsteps, axes hitting on wood, wood breaking, crackling in a firecamp, fishing, swimming, water splashing, water boiling, etc.
Finally, I'd like to note that I am a 21 years old college student working on his home station. Thusly, not only because the project seems (and is) rather ambitious, but for good practice, I expect maturity and the ability to work in a team, not easily get butthurt if you get criticised, etc. I promise it is entirely realisable. I went 2D to add to the simplicity and ensure it WILL come out eventually. Maybe not as complex as I'm hoping, but something will definitely happen, and I promise that if I ever decide to ditch the project, I will release the code and let people work on it. The game will obviously be 100% free although upon release we may or may not accept donations depending on whether there are any costs to distribute the game.
I think that's pretty much all. If you need any more details, please let me know and I'll see if I can post them here or just PM you them if it's sensitive information.
Thank you in advance,
MisterTickles :3:

Wow, you really put alot of work into this thread, i really like the idea too, and i can easily see how you want the game to be.
im not so good at illustrator/photoshop so i couldnt help you.
But i wanna know a bit more about what coding language you are using.
I don't want to divulge unnecessary details that may or may not simply push certain people away from being interested in the game. "Oh this language sucks, you should use this." "No this one is better, xxx is for noobs", etc. It will be a game. You will run an .exe file and you will play the game, pretty simply. Won't be flash, java or anything like that.
Thank you for your interest though, this thread is nothing compared to what I've been working on lately. Here's a quick peak actually:

That screencap is purposely ambiguous.
The style reminds me of Plants vs Zombies.
Very nice, I love it.
There is now a blog with progress (due to popular demand).

just curious, do you have any work done on the actual coding? Would there be a way that you could show us a working demo? I'd like to see commitment to the project past the ideas stage, although your ideas stage seems solid so far. What are you writing it all in?
It would be great to know how things like tiles will be implemented and how easy it will be for artists to work on assets.
Check the blog for progress. Movement/collisions/stuff like that is coded. You can walk around, there's sand and sea shells and puddles and stuff. Currently working on dialog/inventory/items
For artists, it's really easy to work on assets. I'll ask you, for instance, to draw a rope in a specific style within the sizes of 50px by 50px, for instance, and you'd do that, save it as PNG and send it and I incorporate it into the game. Simple as. ^^

As for a working demo, I guess I could release one but not yet. All I have yet is movement and collisions and the ability to render/display items/pictures/tiles/whatever I want. So, no, not yet.
I'd just like to note out the following change-log:
[0.03] 16/08/2010
- Added some random temporary items (vine/stone/spear) for testing purposes
- Foundations for the inventory system are created. You can now pick up items with the space bar. The script will know what items you have and how much of it but it is not displayed in the inventory.
- Inventory window/layer created. Press i to open it and click the x to close it. Nothing is displayed there yet though.
- Changed the game's name to "Bottle to the Sea"
- Added temporary demo overlay
[0.02] 15/08/2010
- Added some graphics
- Basic character movement (no animation yet)
- Collisions
[0.01] 14/08/2010
=================
- Direct X generated
- Images/tiles/graphics are renderable smoothly
I'm interested, how do people go by contacting you?
You can send me a PM on the facepunch forums.
-snip- Don't think I have enough time too commit too a project at the moment.

I made a conk shell :buddy:
It looks nice and the idea is interesting. i Can't do much myself, but i'd like to see this form
Can you PM me your e-mail? I can only upload to SHTTP so I can't upload it to a file hosting site.
I'd like to thank everyone that has PM'd me their interests as of yet. I'm going to reply to all PMs sooner or later, give me some time please, college has just popped in the picture and I'm currently briefing up a new developer. Shouldn't take too long.
Also here's a tease;
Also my e-mail is lifeisgood_ [at] live [dot] ca

That's actually not bad at all, especially since you didn't have any predefined requirements for the image. :)
Sell this shit on iTunes.
Any and all games are sellable there, but you will get alot of faggy 12 year olds pirating your games.
The game will be 100% free with all updates free. I don't even think we'll ever ask for donations unless I set up a website specifically for the game, but even then, that's like $20 a year so who cares.
I made a piece of paper

I appreciate the effort, that actually looks really good. However, as respect to your time and to avoid you wasting it, it'd probably be better if you waited for my reply to your PM (I will eventually, I promise) because images can not be used in the game unless they follow a specific standard/style.
Thank you though, I love the interest this has sparked.
Did i reply mister tickles? i dont know if it sent
Sent you some of my stuff.
I really like the idea so far :)
Didn't get anything from you Seneor.
Got your PM Greeneyes, very impressive, I'll be contacting you shortly. (Along with everyone that has sent a PM, I'm just really rushing with coding for the moment. That'll somewhat filter out people who are really interested and those who just decided to help out on the spur of the moment and will lose interest in a short while)

Had to kill an hour somehow.
This looks killer! It's an excellent idea. I'll be following your blog closely.
Sent a few PMs!
In-game the images look so low quality.
That's a jpeg screenshot.
Why?
Will there be npcs, random events such as a box or bottle washing up, maybe some sort of scrap metal washes up. Will there be a desease system, combat, crafting, all I can think of at the moment. I would like to help but I'm aweful at everything that come to making a game other than ideas.
Yes.
