Uckert, 51, says he has discovered a map - marked in invisible ink with the letters "A.H." for Austrian born Adolf Hitler - which will lead him to the lost Amber Room of the Tsars - one of the greatest missing treasures of WW2 that was looted by the Nazis during their invasion of the Soviet Union. Crafted entirely out of amber, gold and precious stones, the room made of numerous panels was a masterpiece of baroque art and widely regarded as the world's most important art treasure. When its 565 candles were lit the Amber Room was said to 'glow a fiery gold'. It is estimated to be worth around 150million euros, but many consider it priceless. It was presented to Peter the Great in 1716 by the King of Prussia. Later, Catherine the Great commissioned a new generation of craftsmen to embellish the room and moved it from the Winter Palace in St Petersburg to her new summer abode in Tsarskoye Selo, outside the city. The room was seized by the marauding Germans during their onslaught on Russia in 1941. Prussian count Sommes Laubach, the Germans' 'art protection officer' and holder of a degree in art history, supervised the room's transport to Koenigsberg Castle in what was then East Prussia. In January 1945, after air raids and a savage ground assault on the city, the room was lost. Ever since the Amber Room has become the new El Dorado, a quest that enthralled the wealthy and the poor alike. And now artist Andreas Uckert, from Gransee, 45 miles north of Berlin, argues he holds the key to the location of the amber room in a treasure map created by Nazi officials. Uckert's secret treasure map has an eagle with a swastika emblazoned on it - but also several other messages written in invisible ink.He showed it to a German newspaper this week and says he is convinced it will lead him and his backers to the lost treasure. But Uckert is also known as the master forger from Gransee. How genuine can his map then be?Uckert's story sounds a lot like the script to an Indiana Jones film. The Nazis buried the 150 million GBP room plus diamonds and gold close to the German town of Fulda, central Germany, he claims. The treasure was buried in three bunkers that are located somewhere near three mountains - the map says where. Uckert said: "I am always looking for interesting documents - it is a passion of mine - and this caught my eye at a flea market on the street of 17 June. It was a place that is part of the East-West axis in Berlin. Selling things with Nazi symbols on them is illegal so the seller probably just wanted to get rid of it quick - and didn't know what he had."I didn't either at first - part of it is in invisible ink. We looked at it a few times - it was clearly a map - but it was a chance discovery by my son that revealed it has a hidden message in invisible ink that only can be seen under torchlight. He was using a torch after the fuse went off - and when he walked past the map he saw letters glowing on it with a green tinge. A. H. for example." Uckert showed the map - in part hidden to cover its secrets - to German media this week including the hidden initials A. H. (for Adolf Hitler) that appeared when illuminated by an artificial light. He said: "Unfortunately because I once painted a fake Mona Lisa - I am experiencing some difficulties persuading people this is not a fake - but I don't forge everything." Uckert claimed to already have found a backer from Miami in America to join him with his excavations scheduled for the coming spring. But he needs another backer and the funding is going slowly, he added. Ironically he is now selling fake paintings by Van Gogh and German painter Franz Carl Spitzweg to try and get the rest of the cash. Backers can reach Uckert under the telephone number +49 3306 204 71 98. Is it just me or does the guy holding the map look a bit like Jeremy Clarkson
He should've kept it secret so he could search for it himself.
Is it just me or does the guy holding the map look a bit like Jeremy Clarkson
If it was: ''And now. Secret Nazi treasure. Found by me. And only me.''
He should've kept it secret so he could search for it himself.
The fact he didn't keep it a secret makes me think this is a fake.
Everyone needs to have a hat fetish though of some sort or you can't follow.
Not a problem with the amount of TF2 players we have here.
Du verrückt? [img_thumb]http://www.operatorchan.org/cp/src/cp4658_problem_officer-face.jpg[/img_thumb]
I love you! :buddy:
The fact he didn't keep it a secret makes me think this is a fake.
the fact that he is a "Veteran forger" should already make you think the map is forged...
If it was: ''And now. Secret Nazi treasure. Found by me. And only me.''
"This is the greatest stash of Nazi treasure. In the world."
There's no doubt that this is fake.
