Other telecom firms had said it was not economical to provide fast services to the village. Getting fast broadband to rural areas is back in the spotlight as the government shelves its funding plans. It is estimated that around 2.5 million homes in the UK cannot get broadband speeds of more than 2Mbps. The Rutland Telecom scheme was a joint effort between villagers fed up with slow broadband speeds and a local ICT firm that was reselling BT's broadband.
That's a pretty cool village.
Freakin' epic. Power to the small rurals!
Why isn't my village like this :saddowns:
Expect The Government to come along and tax it all up.
That's pretty cool actually.
awesome stuff if only more people did this
Why can't I have this fast of internet?
Britain's internet is just terrible alot of people have to suffer for high paying low speed internet, because the companies just abuse the system and know they can exploit people by charging what they want and refusing to upgrade the exchanges to make bigger profits, my friends has to come to my house all the time because he lives in an area with such a shit download rate that trying to download around 1gig of data would take him about 11 days non stop, AND HE'S ON BT! the government needs to get this fucking sorted now!
I bet it is really slow anyway.
My village is shite and everything is broken. We dont even get 200kb/s here.
I peak at 500kb/s, that's the best I can do, and if I play TF2 or an online game for more than half an hour the router shuts itself off. Fuckin' talk talk :( Be like this villiage!

It will take too long to return the money which they used to pay for the exchange. In this economic climate BT won't do it, but as things start to look up I can see BT and other ISP's start to build/upgrade exchanges in the smaller areas [editline]06:58PM[/editline] BT arn't the best ISP either, they love restricting and capping.
You people complain too much. You think 200 kbps is shit? Fucking seriously? I dimly recall the time when fucking dialup was the shit. It was blazing fast compared to those modems you had to plug telephone receivers into. Fucking idiot kids these days, not knowing how good they have it.
Oh hi there UK.

I wish our town had fast broadband, I cap at around 250KB/s here.
It's pretty much bullshit. I'm paying for way more than what I'm getting.

Services surrounding and using internet have also evolved and need better speeds to function properly. Have fun being in 1995.
You think 200 kbps is shit? Fucking seriously? I dimly recall the time when fucking pony express was the shit. It was blazing fast compared to those carrier pigeons you had to train. Fucking idiot kids these days, not knowing how good they have it.
Oh hi there UK.
Umm ye the village is getting double that speed :)

I wish my internet was faster.
Is that supposed to be Funny? I wish my internet was faster.
it was a parody poste
Wish that would happen in my town, it'll probably be one of the last places in the country to get any kind of fiber optic broadband service.
I'm paying for 24mb/s download and an upload of 2.5mb/s
It's alright, guys. By the end of the decade, Google will have completely changed this entire market.
I get around 18 down and .8 up with o2, not bad for the UK.
