Yeah, as the title reads, i'm planning on buying an I9.
Why? Because i'm using 3Ds Max a lot and need the extra horsepower to render stuff faster.
So, my question is, what motherboard am i going to need, i'm currently using an Asus P5 Deluxe, would i need to change it?
CPU: Q6600
GPU: GTX 280
PSU: 750w
Mobo: Asus P5 Deluxe.
Ram: 4GB
I'll add more detailed specs later.
Thanks in advance.
You will most likely need to change it.The i9 will probably be socket 1366.
That means new RAM to.
Money isn't the problem right now, since i have a job.
It'd be kind of you to tell me about the parts i should get, including new RAM.
Vista 32 bit btw.
Yes you would need to change the Motherboard. You would also need to change your RAM.
Besides, it's going to be quite expensive at release and programs aren't going to be able to utilize all 6 cores/12 threads for a while. You're better off going with an i7-920 for now and waiting for the i9 to become more stable/usable.

You're on 32-bit? You'll definitely need to switch to 64-bit.

Go with this for now. Upgrade to the i9 later if you really feel it's necessary.
Allright.
I believe 3Ds Max supports all the cores your CPU can ever get, i mean, think about renderfarms.
So:
New Mobo
New OS
New RAM
New CPU
This is getting a little expensive. Does I7 do hyperthreading?
The i7-900 series does, yes.

OS
Oh, thanks.
I might be getting one of those then.
Would i still have to change my motherboard and RAM?
Yes, you would. The combo deal I posted is good if you're going to buy within the next week or two.
Too bad Newegg doesn't ship to Norway.
I just need to know what to get, i can figure out where to get it on my own.
Thanks anyway.
Ah, you didn't mention location :P
Yea, i forgot about that part... :p
[editline]01:35PM[/editline]
So...
- ASUS P6T SE LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
- Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz (Those clock speeds are kinda low... eh..?)
- OCZ 6GB RAM.
I thought the I7 had higher clock speeds..
Clock speeds don't mean shit really.
There is a lot more to CPU speed than the actual clock speeds. If otherwise, the fairly common Pentium IV 3GHz would outperform an i7 920.
Thanks for imforming me, i'm somewhat stupid when it comes to CPU's. :p

Wait until the i9 is actually out...
Read the title, "In the near future".
Also, i figured out that my uncle, that lives in Arizona, could order stuff from Newegg, then send the stuff and a bill to me.
So, i'll probably go with that combo deal Adzicents posted. Thanks people.
Hello guys, I'm now officially going to buy the Combo deal posted higher up on the page.
My uncle will work as a proxy.
