• Giving access to Free/Cheap Birth Control Saves Govt. Money
As the old saying goes: “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure”. When it comes to contraceptives, that might be an understatement. When women – Millennials especially – have access to affordable birth control, unplanned pregnancy rates plummet. You can talk about how millennials can save money or how to increase your income, but most of that pales in comparison to what it costs to raise a child. According to one study, the government saves more than $7 for every dollar it spends on family planning. Extrapolating that out a few years to cover the drastically rising cost of healthcare and accounting for inflation, we find that in 2016, $17 billion was saved due to public family planning programs.
https://www.guttmacher.org/sites/default/files/pdfs/pubs/journals/MQ-Frost_1468-0009.12080.pdf ^ direct link to mentioned study. ^ Article Source : http://economicalmillennial.com/giving-access-to-free-and-low-cost-birth-control-saves-the-u-s-government-at-least-17-billion-a-year/ D....defund planned parenthood? Yeah. Defund the fuck out of it.
Same way preventative care (regular health screenings, i.e. mammograms, colonoscopies, physicals, etc) saves government money. If the GOP really cared about reducing government spending, they'd stand in full support behind the ACA, not rally against it. The ten-year projected loss of three million lost jobs and several billion dollars in tax revenue after a repeal is a testament to that.
I don't think money is the biggest reason for de-funding planned parenthood though...

It's like Ed Wuncler said in The Boondocks "we don't just stop doing something because it's wrong, we keep doing it until it become the right thing" And people keep falling for this shit. Just last week, I saw some retard here try to justify defunding planned parenthood because "why should we pay to fix the mistakes of women who can't close their legs?"
I honestly don't know who doesn't have access to "affordable birth control" in the western world. Condoms are cheap and widely available.
I honestly don't know who doesn't have access to "affordable birth control" in the western world. Condoms are cheap and widely available.
This isn't about condoms, this is about things like the pill or nuva rings.
Kids are expensive as shit. Humans in general are expensive. You think about not only the amount of money that we have to spend caring for ourselves but also the amount of physical resources consumed by your average person (water, food, electricity, gasoline, etc.) and the greater environmental impact this has on the planet, and it adds up to be quite a lot in no time. We need to do what we can to increase access to birth control (the more modern and effective it is, the better), and we need to do the same with abortion.
any sources that aren't from 'economical millenial'?
any sources that aren't from 'economical millenial'?
OP linked directly to the Guttmacher study. The Guttmacher Institute is pretty much the most reputable organization when it comes to reproductive health issues.

It's cheaper if you solve the problems before they get worse, though. We have a very difficult time understanding long-term planning in this country.
I honestly don't know who doesn't have access to "affordable birth control" in the western world. Condoms are cheap and widely available.
Condoms have a higher failure rate and are subject to the agreement that the male party has no malicious intent. It's stupid to put birth control entirely in the hands of only one part of the equation. Pills, injections or implants are basically always working so long as you take them properly. Also you can also, idk, use condoms while still taking the pill, it's called back-up and many people do that. ALSO, planned parenthood provides WAY more than just BC, it provides std tests, women's health exams, etc. What's the alternative? Your tax money being spent in much greater volume on welfare for teen moms and shit. Or is eliminating "welfare queens" not something you're keen on because then you wouldn't have something to bitch and scapegoat for all the country's problems?
