SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KTLA) -- An Army soldier and Purple Heart recipient who was home on leave for the holidays is now paralyzed after he was shot Friday night during his own welcome home party, police officials said.
Christopher Sullivan, 22, of San Bernardino was home for the holidays and attending the party in the 2800 block of N. Garner Avenue. Just before 11 p.m., another partygoer, described only as a Latino man, got into an argument with someone else at the party, according to a news release issued by San Bernardino police.
The argument, allegedly over football, escalated and the Latino man pulled out a gun and started shooting. Sullivan was hit by gunfire, police said.
The shooter fled the scene and has not yet been found nor identified by police.
Paramedics rushed Sullivan to a nearby hospital. He is now paralyzed, said Sgt. Gary Robertson.
"We're not sure if he's going to be paraplegic or quadraplegic," Robertson said.
Sullivan was wounded in a suicide bombing attack in Dec. 2010 in Afghanistan, the San Bernardino Sun reported. He was awarded the Purple Heart after the incident. He was recovering the from the attack in Kentucky.
"The war didn't get him, somebody at home got him," Sullivan's mother Suzanne told KTLA.
"I'm really mad because he's a good boy -- an excellent boy."
Neighbors believe the shooter may have gone to high school and even played football with Sullivan.
Cue comments of "this is the welcome our soldiers get" despite us having no idea what they were arguing about.

"The argument, allegedly over football"
Doesn't mean its not despicable or called for in any way.
It's not, nor did I imply it was.
"The argument, allegedly over football"

it doesnt matter what it was about anyway, it was random gunfire that wasnt aimed at him

right in the sentence you were quoting too!
How could anyone not know who the partygoer is? Looks like most of the people who personally know him are keeping tight-lipped.
They mean to say he has not yet been found by police, and his identity has not yet been released to the media.
who the fuck would shoot someone over football.

So what was the point of even saying "we have no idea what they were arguing about" because it doesn't even matter if he called the latino guy's mother a whore or anything, there's no excuse to shoot him and paralyze him regardless if he was a soldier or not.
who the fuck would shoot someone over football.
Because
AMERICA

Because
AMERICA

Or you can riot in the streets and cause millions worth of damage if your team loses (UK, Canada, US)
who the fuck would shoot someone over football.
Because there are idiots in this world we live in.
Because

Hell, we've even had people kill each other over darts.
Granted, the shooter was drunk, but still.
I'm sad now.
Or you can riot in the streets and cause millions worth of damage if your team loses (UK, Canada, US)
From what I've seen it's mostly Canadian hockey or American politics that cause that kind of property damage.
But anyway, gun control anyone?
It's horrible when a soldier is lucky to avoid being shot in a dangerous place, then when he returns home which should be his safe place, he gets shot.

Because people are going to assume they were arguing about his role in Iraq and make some snarky political comment about a "hero's welcome".
The world is a cruel, cruel, place at times.
God that angers me, after all his been through and survived through the war this happens. I wish him and his family all the best, they don't deserve this.
Survives an IED and comes home only to get paralyzed by some drunk shit who he likely knew.
Its times like these that I wished karma were real.
This is not helping me staying happy today at all.
Does he still qualify for the same benefits he'd get if he sustained those injuries in a warzone?
Because that's fucked
america fuckin blows im serial
I don't want to live in this country anymore :(
Sounds like one guy thought the Raiders would make it to the playoffs, and the other guy lived in this reality.

funny you say that because you're the one making an assumption in the first place. and the latino man was arguing with someone else, can you fucking read?
For fucks sake
I want to say "bullet to the knee" but I'm wondering if that joke got run too far into the ground.
I wonder if the guy was a gangmember.
