• Will this card + CPU run Grand Theft Auto IV?
    19 replies, posted
First time building a PC with my dad, and we ordered the Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 1GB. Before, I've researched on YouTube for gameplay of Minecraft, Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, and Grand Theft Auto IV. But - I haven't seen any videos that had my CPU too, which plays a big role in higher-end games. So, yes my card is the Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 1GB, and my CPU is the Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition @ 3.4GHz. And if it matters, I'll be having 8GB of Memory. Thank you, and on a side-note: Is there an Introductions forum? I just joined :P. ~ RD
eh, a lot of games rely on the GPU to do most of the processing. GTA would be able to run on that setup

Newer games do use the CPU more then they use to, for example bf3 does better with more cores but for the majority games are more reliant on a GPU. Also some people on FP don't take to kindly to Emoticons and signatures, just a heads up.

GTA IV on the PC is a huge pig for whatever reason, but that looks like it should run it quite well.

Because there are way better(newer) options now. GTA iv is a really CPU intensive game, but the 965 should handle it.
Post your current specs, and we'll look into it. And stop signing your posts, it's not needed.

It should run probably could max textures and shit but without anti alias.
It should run probably could max textures and shit but without anti alias.
Meh, I've played without AA on most games my whole life, Never really noticed the difference, so it's not a big loss for me :).
My GPU is better than yours, so I should be good?
My GPU out performs yours. 7770 are budget cards just like 6770 or the 5770. Here's a benchmark comparison.
Used to have a 5770, it ran the game at medium-high, but my cpu is an i7-870 at 4GHz, not sure if that will make any difference, you should be able to run the game fine, maybe not at too high setting though :S

"XFX" is just a brand, and that doesn't necessarily influence anything. Look up reviews if you want to know how fast a card is, or learn to read AMD's naming scheme, and how to compare between generations.

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2012-vga-gpgpu/09-GTA-IV-EFLC-DirectX-9-B-Performance,2956.html Also shows that GTAIV will run fine.
I had the same processor, but with a lower-end GPU the 5770. It ran pretty decently on medium, and a pretty good visual rendering distance.
