PlayStation Vita hardware sales continue to be strong following the platform’s price drop late last month. At 63,581 sales, he handheld is the top-selling console again this week, topping its sales last week by 1,000.
Soul Sacrifice moved over 90,000 units, and that's not counting the 20,000 sales of the Soul Sacrifice double pack that was released in Japan. While I doubt this momentum can keep up for very long, it still shows that Sony can turn their fortune around with the right pricing and games. I'd expect a similar price drop in the US/UK later on when Killzone Mercenary is released with hopefully similar sales increase.
What is the actual price drop? If it is $150-200 I am going to have a hard time not getting it.
Throughout history products have always sold better if they were at a lower price than their competition, even if there was a trade-off of quality. This is why Mac's don't sell for shit and Microsoft is still rolling in fucking cash. Sure, the iPhone sells well (for those of you who don't know, iPhones sell for approx. the same amount as Androids, so they are exempt), but only now have they been making anywhere near as much as Microsoft has been for the past several decades. [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] The price went down to $200, by the way.
Sure, the iPhone sells well, but only now have they been making anywhere near as much as Microsoft has been for the past several decades.
iPhones don't really contradict the example, as the price difference between an iPhone and a flagship android is tiny compared to the price difference between a mac and a comparably specced PC.
I didn't use the iPhone as an example, I was conceding that Apple makes money no doubt from iPhones, but their Mac sales suffer from their shitty pricing. [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] If all the products in a certain industry are the same price, their sales are usually completely dependent on advertising and recognition. [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] Apple products are in virtually every commercial that deals with technology and because of that Apple has huge name-recognition. The way Steve advertised his company is complete and utter fucking genius.
I thought Sony had actually sacrificed an employees soul to help sales
Price difference is the primary reason why the Gameboy kicked the everloving shit out of handhelds of the day. Color screens and backlights were not impossible back then, but they drove the price up considerably and the battery life was less than most laptops of today. meanwhile the Gameboy was sitting at a dirt-cheap-in-comparison spot with batteries that lasted over 16 hours. nintendo refused to do color screens until they could get the system to run as long as the monochrome version.
i was expecting a different kind of soul sacrifice
Now just repeat it in the Western Market and you're golden Sony.
Soul Sacrifice seems like a great game, I watched ENBs videos of the game. Unfortunately it's only limited to Vita.
Now just repeat it in the Western Market and you're golden Sony.
They said they wouldn't some time ago iirc. Which is a pretty stupid move of them.
And that's a good thing. The Vita needs games to push the console. It doesn't deserve to die.
You might be right but I am all for spreading data and information, restricting something to a single plattform is bad on the long run. I already dislike console exclusives.
They said they wouldn't some time ago iirc. Which is a pretty stupid move of them.
Their decision. If they want to lose a metric shit ton of money, they should keep the price.
I already dislike console exclusives.
Yeah, but that's the only reason why consoles are actually worth buying for.
Yeah, but that's the only reason why consoles are actually worth buying for.
This is completely untrue when it comes to mobile consoles. Now home consoles, that's the sad truth.
Yeah, but that's the only reason why consoles are actually worth buying for.
I like the fact that you can easily install the console to every monitor in your household, take it with you and play at your friends place. Beat-em up and other split screen games are really enjoyable and amazing when you hang out with your friends. It's not a hassle to set everything up and you only need a few controllers. It's a different experience.
i like the vita

[editline]13th March 2013[/editline] The price went down to $200, by the way.
This is an awful example because a Mac isn't just higher priced, it's also in many cases poorer quality. There are statistically more reliable PCs for a lower price, it's not just a matter of a better product for a higher cost. Sure there are god awful manufacturers for windows that produce really shitty products compared to Apple, but you can't just compare the worst manufacturers of hardware for Windows and say "look it's worse but cheaper". You can argue if you really want that the Mac OS is better but it'd be mostly pointless as it comes down to personal preference mostly.
a lot of people don't seem to understand the mentality the japanese have, they think that selling your stuff at a higher price, means its better, "premium" you might say, there was even a japanese game developer criticizing that attitude a few months ago, so lowering your price is considered to be unthinkable by some companies, sony being awfully stubborn about it, but that mentality seems to be changing slowly.
The price dropped to 200$? Source on that? Because I'm really thinking about getting it now.
