Real quick
My CRT (tube-type) RCA TV makes that really high pitch ring whenever it's on. It's like that mosquito ring-tone that old people can't hear.
It's not that big of an issue so I'm not going to physically open the TV if there is an internal error, but if anyone has any advice...
The noise continues to sound even when the volume is off.
Does anyone know if I can just karate chop it somewhere to stop the noise?
THANKS DAWGS

Evry crt does that.
Some people can hear it other people don't.
Ask your parent's they probably can't hear it (You hear less in the high frequencies when you age)
Yeah, every CRT makes that noise. Some less, some more. I am wondering how you seem to hear it for the first time though.
O :c
Well... alright. Thanks guys. As for why this is may be the first time I'm noticing it.
Most of the TVs i used to watch were rear projection, and all my crt monitors have been under 20" (I don't know if size matters(twss)). And any other crts were mad old.
Anyways. Thanks.

Some people I know can't hear that noise at all. They actually think I'm psychic because I can tell if a CRT TV is on without even looking at it. Although, I wonder why only CRT TVs do that, but not CRT computer monitors?
Oh they do it too I can assure you. Well, some of them anyhow.
Mine does too it's annoying when its the only thing turned on.
mine only makes that sound when its turned off >.> dam bio-TV
It's the line output transformer circuitry, perfectly normal.
The reason computer CRT screens generally aren't audible is because the resolution is MUCH higher and thus, the line scanning rate is much higher, out of audible range. NTSC and PAL Transmission specs are within audible range (15khz for NTSC).
Force your CRT Computer monitor to 320x240 resolution and you *should* hear it, depending on the monitor.
I know this because I come from a family who owned a TV repair shop years ago, somehow I picked this up even though I have never seriously worked with TVs (beyond working with my own).

I am impressed
This is happens with my monitor, just unplug it/turn off power cord and it should stop until you turn it on again.
