My Radeon 4870 of 4 and a half years just fried yesterday, I'm looking for a replacement in the 150 dollar range. I live in the US, so I'll most likely be ordering from newegg.
My specs are,
Q9300 OC'ed to 3Ghz
8GB of DDR2 memory
with a monitor of 1920 x 1200 resolution.
You can get a 7850 for less than $180 shipped

I wouldn't recommend a 550 Ti especially if his budget is $150. That may have been a good card last year, but now there are better graphics cards for the price, such as the Radeon 7770. If you can go higher, then you can go with the 7850 that B!N4RY recommended.

Ha, it was never a good card. And there's absolutely no reason to get a 2gb version of a card that wouldn't even be able to push 1gb of textures at a decent framerate.
I got a 7850, thanks for the suggestions everyone.
If you don't mind I'm going o hijack this thread since your done lol
I'm choosing between a 7770 and a 560 or 600 watt psu on new egg and tiger direct respectively

They're almost exactly the same price, minus the 40 watts the tiger has over it. Newegg would arrive faster and is this a solid set up for medium level gaming?
I have a pretty good intel 2 quad and 4 gigs of ram

Considering I am running a C2Q and a 6770 off a 450 cooler master, you are fine by wattage alone. I would go for a more reputable brand if you have the money. (Corsair)
Cougar is pretty good, but Thermaltake is just shit across the board bar their extreme high end $150+ PSUs. Get the Newegg one for sure.
got the new egg one like 12 hours ago and realized even with fast processesing they don't ship on weekends.
guess when it comes, on my birthday
