Found one in my pool. It's always so hard moving one of these. Should the mother spider feel threatened it will put out a signal that tells all the baby spiders to jump off and run away. So yeah, moving one of these isn't easy. Extra large picture. You can see all their legs aaahhh Found a second one today: EDIT: These pictures suck and most of them don't even load, but for some reason tons of people are reading this. So here's the new ones One of them popped off and went and sat on her face for a bit
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
I concur with booberslug.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
That's pretty sweet. About how big is it?
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
What do the spiders do whilst clinging to her? Is it just for a lift/protection or does she secrete something...
That's pretty sweet. About how big is it?
They can get to be about 8 CM long, tops. Edit:
What do the spiders do whilst clinging to her? Is it just for a lift/protection or does she secrete something...
Just lift/protection.
I heard those things can take down a 250 Pound guy in one bite. You get all the awesome critters, i get angry squirrels.
Hurr, that's scary.The Mist-scary
Are Wolf Spiders venomous or not? I'm pretty sure they are but I'm not 100% sure.
Are Wolf Spiders venomous or not? I'm pretty sure they are but I'm not 100% sure.
I've been bitten by a wolf spider once before when trying to get it out of my pool's filter. It's just a pinch, nothing more.
Oh ok, that's good to know. You must have one hell of a nice camera to manage that second shot.
Spiders are fascinating creatures. What annoys me is when people say 'who would win a spider (tarantula) or a scorpion', or in some cases, video spiders fighting other animals. The reality is that spiders were designed for stealth hunting and not merely pulling prey to pieces on the spot. Sure spiders are tough, and in some cases may well win against other creatures in a straight up fight, but different animals were built for different purposes of hunting, and thus it's stupid to really pit them against eachother if one surpasses the other in the circumstance. (i.e. the scorpion is designed to grab prey and sting it, not stealthily attack/ensnare them with a set up trap like a spider)
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
Postal, are you sure you live in The Everglades and not an insect/snake reservation in The Everglades? When I go there all I see are tiny brown lizards.
HOYL FUCKING SHIT
Don't baby spiders eat the mother after birth? Or is that only in certain species?
Do these sort of things ever make into your house? oh yeah HOLY FUCKING SHIT
Postal, are you sure you live in The Everglades and not an insect/snake reservation in The Everglades? When I go there all I see are tiny brown lizards.
You don't look hard enough. I live in Mississippi and I chop up like hundreds of those per day with a weed eater. ( Not purposely, I just weed eat for my uncle in his orchard. ) I saw a praying mantis today and tried to catch it, but it was too fast and I found out they can jump very well!
How can you sleep at night? I'm asking this seriously, not a shitty joke-post.
Do these sort of things ever make into your house? oh yeah HOLY FUCKING SHIT
I have at least two wolf spiders that live in my house. They take care of all the beetles and such that make it inside, so I leave them be. Edit:
Don't baby spiders eat the mother after birth? Or is that only in certain species?
Yeah not this species.
How can you sleep at night? I'm asking this seriously, not a shitty joke-post.
They're harmless to my understanding and I have never seen them inside of homes. Edit:
I have at least two wolf spiders that live in my house. They take care of all the beetles and such that make it inside, so I leave them be.
Edit: Nevermind..
DON'T YOU EVER ORGANIZE A POOL PARTY EVER
Holy shit that's kinda scary..
holy fucking... shit?
HOLY FUCKING SHIT this isn't getting old that really is fucking crazy
:uhoh: SHIT, RUN.
And again. I'm really never scared of any little insects/spiders etc, still not 'scared' of this, but it is pretty unnerving seeing all these tiny animals in one place. Even so, they're fucking awesome.
