I've been listening to this wonderful band for a couple of years now, and guess what? So should you. Nevermore is a progressive metal band from Washington, US, but in my opinion they're so much more than just another prog band. I haven't heard any other band with a sound like theirs. Band history - the boring bit It all started back in 90s, when the band Sanctuary was pressured into making more mainstream-like music. Warrel Dane (vocals) and Jim Sheppard (bass) left Sanctuary and started their own band, Nevermore. Mid 90s, the new band finally had a stable line-up consisting of Warrel Dane, Jim Sheppard, Van Williams (drums) and last (but not least) Jeff Loomis (lead guitar). In 1995 they finally released their first album, "Nevermore" followed by a tour. After this a second guitarist joined the band, Pat O'brien, just in time for a new album recording, "The Politics of Ecstacy". After the release, O'Brien left Nevermore to play with Cannibal Corpse instead, and was replaced by Tim Calvert. 3 years later, "Dreaming Neon Black" was released, and yet again, their second guitarist left them. They released "Dead Heart in A Dead World" and "Enemies of Reality". After these two releases they added Steve Smyth to the line up, after they had been touring with him. With Smyth they recorded and released "This Godless Endeavor", and after this release the band took a bit of a break. A couple of the band members went through some health-issues, but a new album "The Obsidian Conspiracy" is expected to be released in 2010. I've just picked these songs out randomly, so they're not necessarily the best songs from the band.
Fuck yes. Nevermore rule. - You should add Narcosynthesis and The River Dragon Has Come
I fucking love Nevermore, best sounding singer imo.
I like how the band was playing in the backround during the acoustic part, yet none of them had an acoustic. lol They sound pretty cool though, just not my cup of tea
Nevermore are awesome, I really love their overall sound. Sanctuary were great too. Jeff's solo project is also amazing. I, Voyager has to be my favourite song of Nevermore's. I also find it kinda cool that Loomis initially auditioned for Megadeth, and now Broderick is in Megadeth. It excites me because I really love the style Nevermore has employed, will be interesting to see its influence on Megadeth.
Fuck yeah, I've been listening since around 2004. Dreaming Neon Black is brilliant. But I didn't know they had a new album coming out, any info on it?
Well, Warrel updates his twitter pretty frequently with info and progress on the new album. It's due out in early 2010, but that's all I know really. http://twitter.com/warrel_dane
Nevermore is awesome!
I saw them live at Wacken, they played 'This Godless Endeavour'. I was happy.
I saw them live at Wacken, they played 'This Godless Endeavour'. I was happy.
I wish I had seen them live. Going to do so one day, though, it's a promise to myself. I envy you a tiny bit.
