In my other computer I tried to install an older PCI sound card so I can play some of my old flight simulator games using my joystick. But when ever I install a card the system doesn't seem to pick them up.
I've tried two Creative SB Live cards, and one older one; Have no clue what the model number is on it. And every time it boots; detects no hardware changes in the system what so ever.
As far as I know there isn't a setting to disable/enable them in bios. The system's PCI-E slot works fine while the PCI ones aren't. I'm starting to get very frustrated with it. :saddowns:
Edit: The system's SM bus controller driver isn't installed. No clue where to find it.
Any possibly solutions to fix this problem?
MSI 7191
WindowsXP x64 Professional
There are three revisions to the PCI specification (v1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.) PCI 1.0 used 5 volts for power, and PCI 2.0 later dropped that to 3.3 volts, but retained 5 volt backwards compatibility. PCI 3.0 (which most motherboards from 2006-07 onward uses) dropped support for the 5 volt supply, which essentially makes PCI 1.0 cards not work. Some improperly built PCI 2.0 cards also use 5 volt power, and subsequently won't work either.
Unless those are newer SB Live! cards, they were made in an era where they could be either PCI 1.0 or 2.0 (or a bastardization of the 2.0 standard, it wouldn't surprise me since creative are idiots) which could be why they aren't recognized. But even if they are, they're so old that they don't have 64 bit drivers (to my knowledge) so they won't work anyway.
For the SM Bus, try installing the chipset drivers:

Those drivers don't install, setup comes up with an error telling me about incompatible hardware.
Got the creative cards to work on the MSI 7191 with x64 bit drivers. For some reason the PCI slot I had it plugged into doesn't seem to work at all. While the other one does work.
Found another issue though.. Now the problem is the system doesn't see my Game Controller in the Controller options. Troubleshooted it with completely no luck.
One controller is a Logitech Attack 1, and some Gravis controller I used to use for playing old games. Both non-Usb.
Tried restarting, re-installing, still doesn't see it.
According to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_port
Microsoft phased out support for the Game Port, so it's not going to work without some expensive 3rd party workarounds apparently.
As for the driver link, it should work. The specs on the MS-7191 say it uses the "ATI Xpress 200" chipset. if you can find a driver package for Windows XP x64 edition, it should fix the SM Bus issue.

Yeah, but according to the installer the drivers that were suppose to be to correct, aren't correct. It just says "Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software."
And I did download the x64 bit drivers for the system.
